Yet another Orlando eatery closing as Pom Pom’s Teahouse & Sandwicheria announces closure after almost 20 years

Sad news yet again, as yet another Orlando food business has announced its closure, with Pom Pom’s Teahouse & Sandwicheria the latest to close its doors.


Recently it appears that we are bringing you news on an almost daily basis of Orlando eateries closing the doors, recently Ethos Vegan Kitchen, Chuck Lager Legendary Kitchen, Valkyrie Doughnuts, Bandbox, and Kappy's have all announced their closure, with the most recent being Winter Park restaurant, Farm and Haus, plus in addition we have The Hammered Lamb fighting to survive.


A new week brings news that yet another imminent closure, with Pom Moongauklang the owner of Pom Pom’s Teahouse & Sandwicheria, announcing that the popular cafe will close forever on Friday, October 4.


Moongauklang made the announcement Monday morning, Sept. 16 on Pom Pom’s social media accounts, and although no reason has been given for the closure, Moongauklang commented, “No Rollercoaster in the world has as much ups, downs, excitement, and pivots as having a small business. It is with the greatest GRATITUDE that, unfortunately, I willl no longer continue my BELOVED POM POMS CONCEPT,”


Pom Pom’s Teahouse & Sandwicheria has been a fixture in the Mills 50 District for nearly 20 years, serving customers from its location at 67 N. Bumby Ave. since 2005.




Last year, Moongauklang did however make an appeal to the community to help the business, citing a difficult time for the business due to a slow recovery from the pandemic.


No such comments this time, with Moongauklang stressing that she is not retiring, and closing the business to pursue a new chapter in her life, promising to make an announcement of her next concept and creation soon.



Moongauklang is urging customers to visit one last time before they close on Friday, October 4.


In thanking customers for nearly 20 years of business, Moongauklang commented, “It is with LOVE I say thank you for giving me the opportunity to have served, well over ONE MILLION sandwiches.”
