Central Florida’s new Women’s Professional Volleyball League Team to play a 24 game slate.
The Orlando Valkyries, have announced their match schedule for the 2024 inaugural season. Addition Financial Arena will be the home of the Valkyries, providing an electric atmosphere and an affordable family environment for fans of all ages.
The Valkyries will play a 24-match schedule, hosting 12 home matches and traveling to 12 on the road. The Valkyries will play the other six teams in the Pro Volleyball Federation twice at home and twice on the road.
The inaugural season home schedule breaks down as follows:
Inaugural Home Opener
To start the season, the Valkyries will play their first match at home. The contest will take place at Addition Financial Arena against the Atlanta Vibe on Friday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m. The Vibe are coached by former UCF Women’s Volleyball Head Coach Todd Dagenais and the Valkyries will look to spoil his homecoming.
Friday Nights Are Alright
The Valkyries will play three of their 12 home matches (including the home opener) on Friday nights in their season one campaign. Stay tuned to the Valkyries’ social media pages for information on theme and promotional nights to take place at each Friday home contest, which will be announced in the coming weeks. All Friday night matches will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday Nights are Party Nights
Saturday nights will showcase three Valkyries home matches. Mark Saturdays with the Valkyries as your invitation to the Valkyries Prematch Tailgate Parties! Saturday nights in Orlando will feature prematch tailgate parties on the plaza of Addition Financial Arena to include live music, food vendors, beer vendors, and interactive games. The festivities will start at 4:00 p.m. prior to all Saturday matches, which will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Sunday Funday
The team will play four Sunday afternoon home matches, officially themed “Sunday Fundays” with the Valkyries. Sunday afternoon outings will be a prime destination for Central Florida families, local youth volleyball clubs, all youth sports teams, and groups of all kinds to enjoy an affordable, family-fun atmosphere. Kids can enjoy sign making, face painting, hair coloring, temporary tattoos, and interactive games during all Sunday afternoon matches, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
School Day Game
The Valkyries will host a special “School Day Match,” on Thursday, April 11 to begin at 10:30 a.m. During this contest, the team will open doors to local schools and host a student field trip to an Orlando Valkyries match. Students will be offered a day out of the classroom while incorporating learning experiences and lessons, through volleyball. A few lessons the kids will engage in are geography, science, and much more.
Thirsty Thursday
The Valkyries will host one Thursday evening home match on May 9, and deem it “College Night.” Current college students and alumni can purchase a $10 ticket and the team will offer discounted beverage options and concessions, live music, and plenty of interactive games & promotions. This “Thirsty Thursday” match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
