At 91, Wille Nelson remains a prolific force in country music. Last year saw the release of Willie’s 76th studio album and 153rd overall, Last Leaf on the Tree, which featured several stripped-down, moving covers including Warren Zevon‘s “Keep Me in Your Heart”, Tom Waits‘ “Last Leaf”, and The Flaming Lips‘ “Do You Realize??“.
Nelson also saw his share of setbacks, missing eight shows on his all-star Outlaw Music Festival tour due to illness. After taking some time to rest, Willie was able to rally and return to the stage for his annual 4th of July Picnic which included sets by Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Lukas Nelson, Mavis Staples, Maren Morris, Celisse, and more.
