Where to find Sandbag Locations throughout Central Florida ahead of impacts from Tropical Storm Milton

With Tropical Storm Milton forecast into slam Florida as a Major Cat. 3 Hurricane bringing severe weather to Central Florida, local counties are making sandbags available to residents ahead of the storm.

As the West Coast of Florida faces the real possibility of a major hurricane bringing significant disruption to large parts of the state, hurricane-force winds, heavy rain and flooding could be a potential issue for Central Florida residents.


Officials are urging residents to take action. and prepare for the possible impacts from the storm. Everyone should be taking this time to check emergency kits and family plans, and to secure outdoor patio furniture, trim trees, and clean out gutters.


Here in Central Florida, sandbag locations are opening throughout the area. In the event of a storm, residents can use sandbags to protect their home against flooding or water damage by strategically placing them around doorways, windows, and openings to divert or absorb water.



Here is the latest list of locations to collect sandbags in Central Florida. We will update this list as we receive new information.


Central Florida Sandbag Locations

Orange County Government's Office of Emergency Management is currently monitoring storm conditions.


In preparation for heavy rain, the county will open its free, self-service sandbag program at select parks. Sites will operate on Monday, October 7, and Tuesday, October 8, from 9am - 7pm.

With heavy rainfall predicted, and the potential for a storm to form in the Gulf of Mexico, Seminole County and City sandbag operations are open for residents to prepare.


Empty bags and sand are available; residents should bring their own shovels and a partner to assist with filling and loading.

Osceola Couny will be distributing sandbagsSunday, Oct. 6 from 9am - 5pm. and Monday, Oct.7 from 9 am - 6pm at Osceola Heritage Park.


Each household is allowed up to 25 sandbags. Remember to bring your own shovel or filling tool. Supplies are limited, and on a first-come first-served basis.


Residents who still have sandbags from previous distributions, are encouraged to reuse them.


Polk County is making sandbags available throughout the county on Oct. 6 and 7. Locations below will be open from 8am to 5:30pm.

A maximum of 10 sandbags will be provided to each household address to help prevent water intrusion into the home. You will need to bring a driver license to show your local address.

Lakeland – 8970 N. Campbell Road, Lakeland

Residents living in flood prone areas are encouraged to sandbag their homes.

Residents can get valuable information to be prepared at www.sumterprepares.com.


Sandbag operations will resume October 6, from 8am - 5pm at Fire Rescue Station 23 (1850 Pioneer Trail, New Smyrna Beach) and Fire Rescue Station 34 (1700 Enterprise-Osteen Road, Osteen).


Residents should bring a shovel, and please note there’s a limit of 10 sandbags per household.


Additionally, a drive-thru service for pre-filled sandbags will be available from 9am - 1pm. at the Volusia County Branch Jail (1300 Red John Drive, Daytona Beach), with each vehicle eligible to receive up to 10 bags.


With Tropical Storm Milton forecasted to strengthen into a hurricane, we may experience 4-6 inches of rain and strong winds, so it’s crucial to stay informed and prepared.


Proof of residency is required at all locations, and if you live in an incorporated city, be sure to check with your local government for sandbag distribution information.
