Wekiva Island to celebrate Earth Day with Third Annual Event on April 25

Wekiva Island is already known for its sustainability efforts, but in honor of Earth Day, the popular Seminole County attraction is doing it BIG.

The Seminole County attractio will once again dedicate a day to sustainability for the third year in a row with its annual Earth Day Celebration on Friday, April 25. The event will include a river clean-up, eco workshops, animal encounters, a riverside market and more, all with the goal of honoring the planet and working toward a greener future.

The schedule includes:

  • The Earth Awakened art exhibition in Gallery CERO from 9 am - 4pm., featuring plein air paintings from local artists

  • A River Clean-Up with Keep Seminole Beautiful from 9:30 am to 12 pm

  • The Audubon Experience with the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey from 1 pm to 3 pm

  • An animal encounter with the Central Florida Zoo from 2 pm to 3:30 pm

  • The Pop-Up for the Planet: Riverside Market from 4 pm to 8 pm

  • A stop by the Good Fills Van for package-free bulk soaps, detergents and cleaners from 4 pm to 8 pm

  • The Wekiva Plays kids kite making activity from 5 pm to 6 pm

  • A clothing swap in collaboration with Alyssa Bolanos of Oh Eco from 5 pm to 7 pm

  •  An Eco Trivia Night benefitting the Florida Springs Council for $5 per ticket from 5:30 pm to 7 ppm

  • The Our Power, Our Planet Eco Talks panel from 7 pm to 8 pm

  • Live Music featuring Davey Schweitzer from 7:30 pm to 11 pm

All events are open to the public, though RSVPs are recommended for the kids activity and Eco Talk panel. The day is meant to help attendees gain practical knowledge on living sustainably, support local eco-friendly businesses, and share the beauty of Florida up close and in a naturally beautiful environment.

Vendor applications are still being accepted. Interested eco-friendly businesses can apply here.

Wekiva Island was founded on the pillars of sustainability, art and education. For all the details about the event, visit https://wekivaisland.com/earthday-2025/.
