Dinoland U.S.A. is to become extinct, making way for the brand-new new Tropical Americas Land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
A new adventure is on the horizon at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as a new addition themed around Tropical Americas is about to see DinoLand U.S.A. wiped from the theme parks existence.
The new Tropical Americas will replace DinoLand U.S.A. with the new land featuring timeless stories featuring Indiana Jones, and he Madrigal family from Walt Disney Animation Studios Oscar award-winning film “Encanto.”
Work on the massive project is expected to start soon, which means you do not have long to enjoy DinoLand U.S.A., with Walt Disney World announcing first wave of closures.
The closures will begin in January 2025, with the final day for guests to experience TriceraTop Spin, the Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester's Dinosaur Treasures set for January 12, 2025.
Beyond this date it is not yet known when DINOSAUR, The Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will close.
So what will the new land feature?
If you’re a fan of drawers, floors, and doors, let’s go! The first-ever “Encanto”-themed ride-through attraction is coming to Animal Kingdom, featuring the beloved Madrigal family from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, with the ride hiding within Casita.
Inside the Casita, Antonio has just received his special gift — the ability to communicate with animals — and his room has transformed into a rainforest. It’s time to go explore alongside him, and you never know what member of the family you might bump into…
A new Indy experience is also set to arrive in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and will be different from any other Indiana Jones experience around the world.
The new Indy ride will use the existing ride system, and show building that is currently the DINOSAUR attraction.
In this new venture, the man with the hat has recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya temple, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to explore it. He’s heard rumors about a mythical creature deep within the temple — and he’s got to see it for himself. So, he brings us along on the adventure… but will there be snakes? We’ll just have to wait and see.
To ensure the authenticity of the Tropical Americas, Imagineers conducted numerous research trips, drawing inspiration from various places, including Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, to authentically reflect the region’s people, architecture, and more.
Their efforts are reflected in a stunning model of the land, featuring a large fountain in the center where the villagers like to gather and tell stories. The model even features a special lighting effect around the fountain!
