Due to the incoming Tropical Storm Nicole, Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex initially announced that it would be closed Thursday due to expected severe weather from Tropical Storm Nicole.
This was changed based on recommendations provided by the Brevard County Emergency Management Office, Kennedy Space Center will be closed today, Wednesday, November 9 and will remain closed Thursday November 10 for the safety of guests and crewmembers.
KSC still anticipate reopening on Friday, November 11 at 9:00 am after a thorough assessment of the property has been completed.
Those with existing reservations on November 9 for Special Interest Tours (Explore Tour) will be automatically refunded within 1 billing cycle.
Those with existing reservations on NOVEMBER 10 will be automatically refunded within 1 billing cycle.
As of Wednesday morning, Nicole was located several hundred miles east of West Palm Beach, Florida with maximum sustained winds at 70 mph. Nicole is near hurricane strength and is expected to make landfall in Florida as a Category 1 storm.
"On the forecast track, the center of Nicole will approach the northwestern Bahamas this morning, move near or over those islands by midday, and approach the east coast of Florida within the hurricane warning area tonight," the National Hurricane Center said. "Nicole's center is then expected to move across central and northern Florida into southern Georgia Thursday and Thursday night, and then across the Carolinas Friday and Friday night.
