Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed that the resorts water park, Volcano Bay is to begin annual seasonal closures, with the park closing for five months, beginning on October, 26, 2026, with the park reopening on or before March 24, 2027.

Normally Volcano Bay stays open throughout the year, although over the winter months it can and does close for multiple days due to low temperatures, and other weather impacts.

Volcano Bay is now joining Island H2O Water Park in kissimmeee which began closing over the cooler winter months last fall.

The resort has also revealed that the popular TapuTapu wearable and virtual line at Volcano Bay will no longer be available starting October 1 this year.

The Universal Orlando Resort website has been updated with the following information, “Starting October 1, 2025, the TapuTapu wearable and virtual line will no longer be available. Guests can access attractions queues at their leisure.”

Universal Volcano Bay’s virtual line experience, and the TapuTapu wearable have been in use since the water park opened back in 2017.

The TapuTapu wearable was one of the things that made Volcano Bay unlike any other water park in the world. It was designed to enhance fun and remove hassles.

It is currently a complimentary offering to all guests, used to access all attractions, open rental lockers, activate interactive elements, and more.

All attractions at Volcano Bay currently use a virtual line, with guests joining a queue by tapping their TapuTapu at an attraction and returning when the wearable device vibrates.

Now with the loss of the TapuTau, guests will now have to wait in line for attractions at Volcano Bay.
