Universal Orlando Resort has announced that Volcano Bay, the resorts water park will be closed on Friday, December 23, Saturday, December 24, and Sunday, December 25, due to the forecasted low temperatures throughout Central Florida.
This means that the water park will be closed throughout the busiest holiday weekend of the year.
Freeze watches are already in effect for the holiday weekend, with upgrades to freeze warnings looking likely. Wind chill advisories are also in play with feels like temps between 10-17 degrees, now that's cold!
Wake up temperature on Christmas Eve morning will be down in the 20s and 30s, with daytime highs only expected to reach into the 40s and low 50s at best on Saturday.
The last time Orlando failed to reach the 50s for an afternoon high temperature was back in January 2014.
Then, on Christmas Day morning when everyone is waking up to check if Santa has delivered gifts, Jack Frost will have delivered more freezing temperatures, starting in the 20s and 30s.
Clouds will increase through the afternoon, preventing much warming, with highs on Christmas Day expected to only reach the mid to upper 40s.
It will definitely feel like Christmas for a change here in Central Florida, and could potentially make Christmas 2022 one of the coldest Christmas Days on record.
