Mark Woodbury, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Universal Parks & Resorts, announced today, Wednesday, March 8, 2023, that the division will change its name to Universal Destinations & Experiences.
Universal Parks & Resorts, a unit of Comcast NBCUniversal is becoming Universal Destinations & Experiences.
Universal say that the rebrand better reflects the full breadth of innovative offerings Universal currently brings, and intents to continue to expand its business in the future.
The name change also signals how the company is diversifying by bringing Universal branded entertainment, culinary, gaming and consumer product experiences to life in unique and creative ways for new audiences, in new places, and on new platforms in both the physical and virtual worlds.
“Universal Destinations & Experiences aligns with our aspiration to be the Destination of Choice in the markets where we are today and the markets we enter in the future,” said Mark Woodbury, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Universal Destinations & Experiences. “We are thrilled to expand how we bring the Universal brand to life in new, immersive and compelling ways for fans around the world using our rich collection of stories, characters and franchises.”
Recently, the company announced two, new original concepts – a theme park designed for families with young children and a year-round horror-inspired entertainment experience that is an extension to its highly successful Halloween Horror Nights franchise.
The change of name is a clear signal that Universal is planing more stand alone attractions, and smaller theme parks in the future, and is changing the name to better reflect this.
Part of the branding change is an updated logo for Universal Orlando Resort, with the logo now updated on the official website, and on its social media accounts.
The logo features NO name change, but the text is aligned to match that of the new Universal Destinations & Experiences logo.
The change is subtle, as you can see in the older logo below.
In addition, Universal also revealed a brand new logo for the upcoming Epic Universe Theme Park at Universal Orlando Resort.
The updated logo for the currently under construction new theme park contains much larger text than the previous logo.
The new logo also features a different starry backdrop inside the compass, with the golden compass appearing less defined than in the older logo.
Another interesting change is that the new logo reads "Universal Epic Universe” rather than “Universal’s.”
