The National Hurricane Center is keeping a close eye on a tropical disturbance that is set to enter the Gulf of Mexico, potentially impacting Florida next week, and with Halloween Horror nights starting next Friday, September 1 at Universal Orlando, and the start of the busy Labor Day Weekend, we're sure there will be a nervous folks watching this system with a close eye!
Right now this is a broad area of low pressure that has developed over the northwestern Caribbean Sea just off the northeastern coast of Honduras, producing disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity.
conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system during the next several days, and a tropical depression is likely to form late this weekend or early next week while moving generally northward over the northwestern Caribbean Sea and eastern Gulf of Mexico.
NHC now gives the system a 70 percent chance of becoming a depression or storm within seven days, with Florida a potential area where severe weather impacts could be experienced.
Right now it is far to early to know the intensity or track of this system, or the impact, if any, here in Florida.
