A family vacation to the Daytona Beach area will deliver loads of family fun, especially for the kids.
From beach activities and a thrilling water park to Daytona International Speedway and marine exhibits, activities and attractions are endless in the destination.
Here are just a few of the fun activities that kids will want to experience on their next vacation to the Daytona Beach area:
Kid-Friendly Activities to Enjoy in Daytona Beach
The Beach
The 23 miles of pristine white sand beaches will always be the center of fun for kids. The beaches offer a long list of activities from making sandcastles, eating an ice cream and swimming to more high-paced activities such as biking, surfing, parasailing, jet skis and kayaking.
Plus, you gotta visit The Daytona Beach Boardwalk, a combination Mardi Gras Fun Center, Pizza King and Lisa's Gift Shop all located right on the beach. It features rides and amusements, a classic arcade - with ever popular Skee Ball and video game favorites - day or night!
Daytona Lagoon
If the beach didn’t offer enough fun in the water, kids visiting Daytona Lagoon Premier Waterpark and Family Entertainment Center can soak up even more fun. Little ones can explore the Treasure Lagoon Wave Pool or Castaway Children’s Play area while those looking for a rush, can ride multiple thrill slides such as Poseidon’s Pass, Adventure Mountain, Kraken’s Revenge, Shaka Halfpipe or Blackbeard’s Revenge. The Family Entertainment Center is also open daily and offers laser tag, arcade, go-karts, Sky Maze, rock wall, and more.
Head out to the ballpark
Take the kids to the ballpark! Visit historic Jackie Robinson Ballpark to watch the Daytona Tortugas, a Class A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, who will have baseball games throughout the summer. Jackie Robinson Ballpark, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the site where ground-breaking African American baseball player Jackie Robinson played in the first integrated Major League Baseball spring training game in 1946.
Visit the Museum of Arts & Sciences
The nationally accredited, Smithsonian-affiliated Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) is Central Florida’s primary art, science and history museum. For the kids, make sure to visit The Charles and Linda Williams Children’s Museum, which houses professionally designed interactive exhibits that demonstrate various principles of science.
Climb Ponce Inlet Lighthouse
Fun for the whole family, climb the 203 steps to the top of the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, Florida’s largest lighthouse, for a spectacular, 360-degree views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. Completed in 1887, the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse is a fascinating piece of Florida history. A visit to the lighthouse, rain, or shine, is always a cherished experience.
Discover the speed of Daytona International Speedway
If your kids enjoy cars or even speed, plan for a trip out to Daytona International Speedway for a track tour and visit the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America.
The Speedway offers daily tours that include a visit with the actual winning DAYTONA 500 car and the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. The museum showcases spectacular displays chronicling achievements in all forms of motorsports.
In addition, the NASCAR Racing Experience operates at various times of year, putting guests behind the wheel or riding shot gun in an actual NASCAR race car on the high banks.
Experience Daytona Aquarium and Rainforest Adventure
Explore the Daytona Aquarium and Rainforest Adventure, which provides an interactive educational experience featuring animals from both land and sea. The 55,000-square foot facility has close to 40 separate exhibits including a 100,000-gallon shark exhibit and two touch pools including a 12,000-gallon stingray touch pool. There are also habitats for alligators, frogs, and lizards.
Take an adventure with Ponce Inlet Watersports
Ponce Inlet Watersports has everything you need for great family fun. Guided fishing excursions, dolphin and manatee boat tours, sailing trips, kayak, and stand-up paddle board rentals and more. Plus, you can book your Daytona Beach Parasailing experience onsite, too.
Challenge the kids to a round of Miniature golf

Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf has two locations (226 Cardinal Dr. in Ormond Beach and 3420 South Atlantic Avenue in Daytona Beach Shores) where you can follow Captain Kidd and Blackbeard through 18 holes of pirate fun.
Congo River Adventure Golf in Daytona Beach Shores has 18 holes in a African jungle safari atmosphere and also has an arcade game room, opportunity to dig for “fossils” and feed live alligators.
