Don’t miss the dark comedy Sordid Lives when it takes to the stage at Theater West End from April 4 - 20, 2025.

Authored by Del Shores, known for his previous work "Daddy's Dyin' (Who's Got the Will?)", this play intricately weaves together themes of love, loss, and the struggle for identity in a world laden with societal expectations.

The storyline centers on Peggy, a devoted Christian whose fate takes a tragic and comical turn after an unfortunate accident in a motel room. When she stumbles over her lover’s wooden legs, the subsequent head injury leads to her untimely death, setting off a series of chaotic events that ripple through the lives of her dysfunctional family and friends. This jarring incident becomes the catalyst for a whirlwind of revelations and confrontations, exposing the sordid secrets and complexities buried beneath the surface of seemingly simple lives.

Set against the backdrop of Winters, Texas, the play offers a raw and unflinching look at the lives of those often overlooked by society. The rich tapestry of characters, each grappling with their own struggles and peculiarities, provides both humor and pathos. From Peggy's insecure son to her flamboyant gay best friend, each individual navigates their own sordid existence, ultimately revealing the shared human experience of pain, acceptance, and the pursuit of happiness.

"Sordid Lives" boasts a remarkable legacy, having received over 30 nominations during its successful run in Los Angeles.

Initially produced by Del Shores in collaboration with Jeff Murray and Nicolette Chaffey at Theatre/Theater in Hollywood on May 11, 1996, the play's direction by Shores enhances its sharp wit and emotional depth. As audiences delve into this outrageous yet heartfelt narrative, they are invited to reflect on their own lives, the complexities of love, and the meaning of family amid chaos.
