Latest Art Exhibit Furthers City's Commitment to Promoting the Arts and Supporting Local Talent.
The City of Orlando, in collaboration with Snap! Orlando, is presenting Earth’s Last Picture, a solo exhibition by multi-disciplinary artist Dan L Hess, at the City Hall Terrace Gallery. Curated by Patrick Kahn and Dan L Hess, the exhibition invites viewers to explore the profound themes of transitions, life and death through Hess’ unique artistic lens.
The title of the exhibition is inspired by When Earth’s Last Picture is Painted, a poem by Rudyard Kipling, which holds personal significance for Hess.
Given to him by his father 40 years ago, the poem symbolized his father’s support for his decision to pursue a career in the arts—an uncommon path in Hess’ family. The poem imagines a time at the world’s end when a final painting is created, reflecting on the idea of artistic and spiritual continuity. This concept resonates deeply with Hess’ new body of work, which contemplates the space between endings and beginnings, existence and transcendence.
The exhibition will be on display at the City Hall Terrace Gallery from November 8 through January 26, 2025.
This exhibition is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to promoting the arts, supporting local talent and art organizations.
