See a life-size horse, made entirely of gingerbread during Winter Wonderland at The World Equestrian Center in Ocala

With over one million twinkling lights and show-stopping decorations, World Equestrian Center – Ocala Winter Wonderland promises to bring merriment and cheer to all this holiday season.

Looking to marvel at something unique this holiday season? A life-size horse, made entirely of gingerbread, is currently on display at The Equestrian Hotel at The World Equestrian Center — Ocala.

Chef Yohann Le Bescond, Complex Executive Pastry Chef, and his team spent more than 350 hours across six weeks creating the masterful creation.

The project was completed using 250 pounds of gingerbread dough, 125 pounds of flour, 68 pounds of brown sugar, 42 pounds of butter, 36 pounds of frosting, 25 pounds of molasses and one pound of ground cinnamon. There are more than 1,900 cookies covering the horse from hoof to tail and the display features a real Harris brand Western saddle.

Le Bescond is no stranger to impressive dessert displays, having made a name for himself on at least two Food Network series over the past year and a half: Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking and Summer Baking Championship.

Visitors can see the creation during Winter Wonderland at WEC — on the property from now until Dec. 23.

The 20+ day celebration includes dozens of weekly activities Wednesday-Sunday including shows and events throughout the month — from the cheery melodies of Victorian Carolers to real-life toy soldiers jump roping to extra-large ice sculpture demos.
