On Monday, April 22, 2024, city officials gave the green light for the long time planned sports and entertainment district in downtown Orlando, and now the ambitious 8.5-acre project has a name!

Today, Wednesday, April 24, developers revealed that Westcourt is the official name of Downtown Orlando's new $500M Sports and Entertainment District.

Construction of the 900,000 square-foot mixed-use project to be built just steps from the Kia Center at West Church Street and South Hughey Avenue in downtown Orlando is set to break ground in late 2024.

Westcourt will include a full-service 260-key hotel, 270 residential units, a 3,500-capacity live entertainment venue, Class-A office space, and a variety of dining and shopping options. The development also includes a 1,140-stall parking garage and a 1.5-acre multipurpose outdoor “urban living” room green space.

“Westcourt captures our vision for the project. An inclusive, aspirational place that offers a wide array of amenities, activities and experiences to the Orlando community,” said David Carlock, founder and principal of Machete Group. “Westcourt will be an exciting urban place with world-class hospitality, first-to-market dining options and a variety of event and meeting spaces.”

Excited by the opportunity to create a new downtown sports and entertainment district, Carlock said Westcourt is the next step in downtown’s evolution and growth as a true urban neighborhood.

He expressed his commitment to create a vibrant destination that will be an exciting place to visit, live and work.
