Hooters, the original American wing joint, plans to open the first of possibly three new restaurant in The Villages.
In May 2023, Hooters announced a deal to bring three restaurant to The Villages neighborhood in Central Florida with the brand's original founders.
The original founders currently have the rights to five counties across Florida, and entering The Villages through this agreement would extend their reach into a sixth county, joining existing markets including Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Tampa.
At the time of the announcement, Hooters said that site selection was underway in The Villages, with the first restaurant to open by early 2024.
Since May last year there has been no further news, but thanks to a LinkedIn post by the Director of Commercial Development at The Villages, Geno Jarquin, we now know that a site has been selected, and Hooters is hopefully on the way!
Hooters has signed a lease at Lake Deaton Plaza on SR 44, and is working on due diligence and permitting to build a 4,700 SF restaurant in the shopping center.
Jarquin commented that he was, "excited to see how well they will perform in our market."
No doubt there will be a plenty of golf carts parked outside on any given day!
There is currently more than 370 Hooters restaurants in 35 states and 18 countries. Known for its world-famous Hooters Style chicken wings, the first Hooters opened its doors in 1983 in Clearwater, Florida.
Expectations were so modest at the time that the simple fact the doors opened was deemed worthy of a toast. Since then, millions have been liberated from the ordinary at Hooters while enjoying great food, fun and one-of-a-kind hospitality that can only be served up by the Hooters Girls.
