Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has announced that after 19 years, Sand Serpent will be permanently closing at the park on July 9 to make way for new attractions.
July 9 is the last day ever that you will be able to enjoy the curves, drops, and corkscrews of the wild-mouse style family roller coaster SandSerpent at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.
Busch Gardens have announced that SandSerpent, located in the Pantopia area of the park is being permanently retired on July 9 after 19 years to make way for an exciting new attraction.
SandSerpent is a fun-filled family coaster that zips, zooms and climbs five stories into the air, and Buch Gardens are inviting everyone to ride one last time before the ride is closed forever.
Plus, Pass Members will also receive exclusive early morning access to ride SandSerpent from June 30 through July 4.
Sand Serpent manufactured by Mack Rides is a Wild Mouse roller coaster that was originally operated at sister park Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The ride first opened in Williamsburg in 1996 as Wild Izzy, before a quick name change in 1997 to Wilde Maus, when the ride operated in the park until 2003.
The roller coaster was relocated to Busch Gardnes Tampa Bay, and opened in 2004 as, Cheetah Chase, before receiving its current name in 2011.
Sand Serpent reaches a maximum height of 45.9 feet (14.0 m), with a maximum speed of 28 miles per hour (45 km/h), and a total length of 1,213.9 feet (370.0 m).
