The City of Orlando has announced today, Tuesday, November 9, 2022 that Orlando will play host to the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Track and Field and marathon events.
The exciting announcement was made at the Walt Disney Amphitheater at downtown's Lake Eola Park.
The Trials will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, in downtown Orlando.
America’s best runners will compete for coveted spots on the U.S. Olympic team, with the top three men and top three women finishers who meet qualifying performance standards representing Team USA at the Paris Olympic Games.
Early favorites include Emily Sisson and Keira D’Amato, who this year became the two fastest U.S. female marathon runners in history, and Galen Rupp, Conner Mantz and Scott Fauble.
Orlando is the first Florida city to have ever been awarded the event.
The Orlando trials will mark the 15th time the men’s marathon Trials have been held, and it will be the 11th time the women’s marathon team has been selected in a Trials event.
