Orlando Police Officers and Orlando Fire Personnel have been pulled from the roads as winds reach over 40 mph

Hurricane Milton made landfall late Wednesday evening south of Tampa at Siesta Key. The hurricane is now moving across the state with Orlando already facing dangerous weather conditions.

As Hurricane Milton makes its way across Central Florida in the hours ahead, both the Orlando Police Department and Orlando Fire Department are no longer responding to emergencies until the worst of the dangerous storm has passed through Orlando.


The City of Orlando has issued a public safety update informing residents that Orlando Police Officers and Orlando Fire Personnel have been pulled from the roads to shelter in place as winds have reached over 40 mph.

Public Safety Update: Orlando Police Officers and Orlando Fire Personnel have been pulled from the roads to shelter in place as winds have reached over 40 mph. When the wind speed decreases they will be able to respond to calls for service. Residents should continue to shelter in place. Follow social for updates.

Vehicles and equipment is staged and ready to roll once the winds have fell below 40mph.
