Orlando Museum of Arts latest exhibition is celebrating 100 years of art at the museum: 100 Years of Art: The Best of the Orlando Museum of Art’s Permanent Collection
Orlando Museum of Art is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and kicking off the celebrations is a new exhibition featuring a selection of the Orlando Museum of Art’s extensive collection, honoring long-term loans, acquisitions and gifts that helped shape the institution’s hundred-year-old identity and legacy.
The exhibition opens on Friday, January 26 with an opening ceremony.
The works, presented in a chronological order, span nearly two hundred years, from 1840 to today, and therefore bear witness to key developments in—primarily—American art from the colonial period to the present. In doing so, the exhibition conveys not only the story of artistic accomplishments, but also stories of the country’s history and culture.
The exhibition also highlights the museum’s history by showcasing works that entered it at various points during its 100-year existence, offering insight into the evolving tastes and values of the institution and its community. For the latest on the museum click here.
