The Orlando Magic has announced that this will be the longtime announcer's final season at downtown's kia Center.

The Orlando Magic announced they will honor Public Address Announcer Paul Porter on April 9, as the 2024-25 season will mark his final year. The Magic host the Boston Celtics at the Kia Center that night with tip-off at 7 pm.
“It’s been a magical 36 years,” said Porter. “I will certainly miss the fans, coaches, players and staff. After countless trips up and down I-4, it’s time to pass the torch in Orlando. It’s been a tremendous run and I will forever remain a Magic fan. I humbly thank the Magic for this life-changing opportunity back in 1989, but most of all I want to say thank you to the fans for allowing me to be part of their gameday experience.”
Porter, who resides in Tampa, is also the public address announcer for the Tampa Bay Lightning and press box announcer for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, roles he will continue in.
“Paul has certainly left an indelible mark on our franchise,” said Orlando Magic CEO Alex Martins. “Simply, he will be missed, but never forgotten. His iconic calls will certainly live on.”
The team will conduct a search for a new public address announcer.
Paul revealed on his Facebook Account that it was the teams decision to part waves, commenting, "Some career news, the Orlando Magic today announced that this will be my final season with the team. This was a decision by the team and not mine, but I am grateful for the 36 seasons I have had with them. I will continue my work with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Buccaneers."
Tickets for the Magic game against the Boston Celtics at the Kia Center on April 9 are available here.
