Free Comic Book Day is an annual promotional effort by the North American comic book industry to attract new readers to independent comic book stores, check out the Orlando area comic book stores taking part!
Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) is the biggest event in the comic book industry—a single day when participating comic book specialty shops across North America and of course here in Orlando, give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their shops!
Founded on the belief that for every person out there, there’s a comic book they’ll love, the annual event offers a huge selection of free titles designed to appeal to a broad range of age levels and their tastes.
Major publishers such as DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, IDW Publishing, BOOM! Studios, Dynamite Entertainment, and Image Comics, along with a slew of independent publishers, put out free comics for fans to enjoy at the more than 2,300 local comic shops throughout the country that participate in Free Comic Book Day.
Free Comic Book Day takes place this year on Saturday, May 3, 2025, offering a diverse range of titles available: from superheroes, to popular film and television shows, to beloved video games, and all-ages tales.

Florida’s Coliseum of Comics chain, the largest comics and collectibles retailer in the Southeast, is among the thousands of comic book retailers around the world celebrating the largest event in the industry on Saturday, May 3rd: Free Comic Book Day (FCBD). Each year, participating stores give millions of comic books to millions of fans to introduce them to the wonders of comics.
Free Comic Book Day will run throughout the day on Saturday at all ten Florida Coliseum of Comics locations in Orlando, Kissimmee, Lakeland, Tampa, Gainesville, Clermont, and Jacksonville.
Besides free comics, different locations may be presenting additional events, including cosplayers, signings, food trucks, art events and more. For up-to-date information, please contact your local store.

Grab a free and super limited FCBD 2025 release, a comic book size edition of Fangoria Magazine! Only 9 shops will have this on May 3rd, and Blackbird Comics and Coffeehouse is one of the few shops to carry them in the state.
As always, you can expect an extremely organized event… And if you bring non-perishable food items for the annual food drive to support Second Harvest food bank, you’ll get extra free comics!
