Downtown Orlando's Kia Center, home to the Orlando Magic, Orlando Solar Bear, and many of the biggest name concerts in the city, is in line for $226 million in improvements to help the arena which opened on 1 October 2010, keep up to date with the standard of more modern venues across the country.
Orlando City Council has approved the $226 millionin eupgrades to the 20,000-seat Kia Center, which will be funded by tourist-tax revenues.
The approved improvements are designed to elevate both the technological appeal and overall atmosphere of the facility for fans.
A major highlight of the planned improvements is an extensive LED display upgrade. A new two-year contract, encompassing nearly $10 million in equipment and related enhancements, will see the installation of vibrant LEDs on the arena’s center jumbotron alongside various additional screens and illuminated signage. Notably, the iconic O-Zone sign in the upper bowl will receive a modern lighting transformation. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to infuse the venue with cutting-edge technology that resonates with contemporary audiences.
Alongside the LED enhancements, the arena is set to benefit from sound system upgrades in the lower bowl and a complete overhaul of the video control room.
Additional improvements include the installation of new elevators and escalators and a redesigned concourse, all aimed at ensuring a seamless and modern experience for every visitor.
Construction is slated to begin this summer and will be completed in time for the forthcoming seasons of both the Magic and the city’s Solar Bears.
When the extensive renovations begin, the arena is poised to maintain its schedule of events, ensuring upcoming live events and community gatherings remains uninterrupted even as the facility undergoes its evolution into a state-of-the-art venue.
Attendees can look forward to experiencing an immersive atmosphere when the renovations are complete.

The commitment to enhancing the Kia Center reflects a broader vision rooted in community investment and long-term development. The approved funding, drawn from future tourist-tax revenues, highlights a strategic partnership aimed at boosting Orlando’s appeal as a destination for sports and entertainment enthusiasts.
With breakthroughs in both technological infrastructure and fan-centric design, the revamped arena stands as a testament to the city’s forward-thinking approach to sporting excellence.
