Construction has commenced at Everest Place, the latest master-planned community and hospitality development in the heart of Central Florida that according to developers will include a luxury Nickelodeon Resort and Water Park.
It looks like Nickelodeon is making a return to Orlando, and yes its bringing lots of green slime too!
Nickelodeon has a long history with Orlando, including the long gone but much loves Nickelodeon Studios in Universal Studios Florida, which at the time served as the network's East Coast production hub as well as a tourist destination, producing shows here in Orlando including Kenan & Kel, and Double Dare.
The studios sadly closed on April 30, 2005, to make way for The Blue Man Group which too has since long gone.
Then there was the Nickelodeon Suites Resort that opened in 2005, just outside Walt Disney World, that eventually closed its doors in May 2016, before being converted to a Holiday Inn.
So, is Nickelodeon coming back to Orlando?
A new $1-billion development - Everest Place is coming to Central Florida, the master plan includes 783 condos, 793 hotel rooms, 900 rental apartments, 20 acres of land for commercial & retail space, and 12 acres for a recreational water park.
Ground breaking commenced last summer on Everest Place, which is located along US-192, parallel to State Road 429 in Kissimmee, near the similar development of Margaritaville Resort, Sunset Walk, and H20 Water Park, and only minutes from Walt Disney World.
Phase One of construction will deliver a mix of retail and commercial spaces, medical offices, four resort hotels including the Nickelodeon Resort, and a luxury MYSK by Shaza Resort, plus residential units, and multi-family apartments.
According to the developments website, the headline news is that, yes, we will see the return to the Central Florida tourism market of Nickelodeon Hotels and Resorts!
The company behind the development, Everest Group have entered into a partnership with Paramount and Nickelodeon, to include a 4-Star Nickelodeon Resort within Everest Place.
The resort is described as somewhere where families will enjoy world-class entertainment amenities and have the opportunity to interact with the brand's globally beloved franchises, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and many more from the expansive Nickelodeon portfolio.
A floor plan shows the water park, and more, including details on dining and retail locations within the resort.
The new Nickelodeon Orlando Resort wouldbe the only Nick Resort in North American.
It's believed that the new resort will offer amenities and entertainment similar to Nickelodeons existing two resorts, located in the Dominican Republic and Mexico
Highlights include Aqua Nick, a Nickelodeon-themed water park, which includes a free flowing slime cannon, together with Signature Suites dedicated to specific Nickelodeon characters.
Entertainment is centred around Plaza Orange, and includes a main stage with shows including Slime Time Live, and Orange Carpet where you meet and greet all the Nick characters.
The resorts offers not stop fun with Character pyjama parties, group activities and entertainment throughout the day and night.

While no timescale has been revealed, it's expected that the first phase of Everest Place is set to be developed by the first quarter of 2025.
