Known as “the Olympics of beer,” the World Beer Cup is the most prestigious beer competition in the world, and two local breweries have won big in this year's event.
The World Beer Cup, the largest beer competition in the world hosted by the Brewers Association has honored the best beers in 110 categories covering 172 different beer styles.
The World Beer Cup awards ceremony was held on April 24, 2024, on the final day of the Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America in Las Vegas, NV.
Throughout 14 sessions spanning seven days, a panel of 280 judges hailing from 37 countries meticulously evaluated 9,300 entries representing 2,060 breweries across 50 nations.
“Each award represents not only exceptional quality but also innovation and creativity, driving the global craft beer industry forward,” said Chris Williams, World Beer Cup competition director. “This year’s winners exemplify the spirit of craftsmanship and ingenuity and showcase the diverse flavors and techniques that make beer an art form. Congratulations to this year’s winners for their outstanding achievements in brewing.”
From the 9,300 entries representing 2,060 breweries across 50 nations, two local breweries have been honored in this year's competition.
Crooked Can Brewing Company, a craft brewery inside of the Plant St. Market in Downtown Winter Garden has won silver for "Space Cowboi" in the Juicy or Hazy Imperial India Pale Ale category.
Crooked Can commented on its Instagram account on the win, "We’re truly blown away, so grateful and INSANELY PROUD of our brew crew and the world class beer they brew every day. Thank YOU for loving the can and drinking our beer and celebrating with us, we’re just getting started!"
In the "American-Style Lager" category which saw 108 entries, New York Beer Project Orlando, located at 9230 Miley Drive, Winter Garden took the bronze award for its "Orlando Lager."
NYBP Orlando commented, "This has been a record-breaking year for NYBP Beer, having just racked up 5 medals in the New York State Craft Beer Competition, and now this medal on the National stage for a beer ONLY available at NYBP Orlando! Congratulations to our NYBP Brewing Team - Cheers to you, Sean and Amy!"
