An exciting new pocket exhibition is coming to downtown Orlando's Orange County Regional History Center.


From July 13 – October 13, 2024, Home Away from Home: Historic Hotels of Central Florida will showcase the fascinating history of Orlando's hotels of yesterday.

Central Florida has long been one of the world’s premier vacation destinations, featuring a wide range of accommodations for the travel-weary to rest their heads. From Orlando’s beloved San Juan and Angebilt hotels to lesser-known lodgings throughout the region, Home Away from Home: Historic Hotels of Central Florida features the fascinating ephemera from hotels that have supported the tourism juggernaut we know today.



This pocket exhibit also highlights the original Walt Disney World resorts, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Contemporary Resort. credited with changing Florida tourism forever with the opening of Magic Kingdom in 1971.


So come on over to Orange County Regional History Center, and stay awhile – just don’t expect room service!


Home Away from Home: Historic Hotels of Central Florida is included with general admission to Orange County Regional History Center.


Adult admission is $8, with seniors, students, and military $7. Children (Ages 5-12) is $6, with Children (Ages 4 and under) Free.


The Orange County Regional History Center is open Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sunday, Noon - 5 p.m.
