The Disney Springs Art Walk: A Canvass of Expression features artists who create murals bursting with color, emotion and the spirit of their cultures.
As part of its celebration of Women's History Month, Walt Disney World Resort unveiled its newest mural at the Disney Springs Art Walk: A Canvass of Expression, a vibrant piece from Chicago artist Liz Flores.
Flores says the mural, titled "Fortaleza," is meant to communicate a feeling of strength and resilience with four people coming together to support one another.
Liz Flores is a painter and muralist based in Chicago. She is deeply influenced by the everyday human experience, storytelling, and the female body. Working primarily with acrylic paint on canvas, her work is a representation of the human condition through lines, shapes, and abstract figures. It’s a reaction to life, an emotion, or a memory and is driven by her interests in community, womanhood, and Latinidad. While the women in her paintings are influenced by her experiences, they remain ambiguous in face and form, giving the viewer the opportunity to see themselves.
Flores's artwork is one of several by women artists that is part of the Disney Springs Art Walk, which is a collection of oversized murals on display year-round at Disney Springs, a premier shopping, dining and entertainment destination.
It’s also one of many ways that guests can “Celebrate HER Story’’ at Walt Disney World Resort during Women's History Month.
