Kappy’s Subs, located at 501 N Orlando Ave in Maitland, has announced that it has been forced out of its home after serving locals at the location since 1967.
The ever popular sandwich shop, Kappy’s Subs has been serving a hungry Maitland community since back in 1967. Owned and operated by the Milson family since 1972, the business located at 501 N. Orlando Avenue is being forced to close following the sale of the property.
Kappy’s Subs has been operating at the same location for almost 52 year, serving delicious subs and more from a vintage Valentine Diner, which is a prefabricated lunchroom that was a popular choice in the '40s and '50s.
Adam Milsom announced the sad news on social media, informing everyone that the business will close permanently on Saturday, September 14 at 4 pm, or until they run out of food.
MIlson claims that the people who bought the Kappy's property, Bolen Properties, did not negotiate in good faith to extend Kappy's lease, leaving the business with no restaurant to operate out, forcing them to close.
Milson commented, "It has been an absolute honor for me and my family to serve this community for the past 52 years. We deeply appreciate everyone who has walked through our doors throughout our time in service and will miss being able to feed y'all every day. Closing Kappy's is the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life and I have been brought to tears on several occasions in the past few days. Believe me, this is not how we want to go out and is as sudden a surprise to us as it is to everyone else."
The good news is that the family are actively looking for a new space, but for now they will be operating their food truck which can regularly be found at events throughout Orlando including the popular Orlando Parking Lot Party, and TPD Night Market.
You can also find Kappy's at the Inter&Co Stadium, where they operate a food concession.
