The ever popular sandwich shop, Kappy’s Subs which has been serving a hungry Maitland community since back in 1967, has been owned and operated by the Milson family since1972, but sadly thw family announced last week that the business located at 501 N. Orlando Avenue was being forced to close following the sale of the property.

Kappy’s Subs who had been operating at the same location for almost 52 years from a vintage Valentine Diner had the property purchased from under them by Bolen Properties, which owns the property next door.

Adam Milsom announced the sad news on social media, informing everyone that the business would close permanently on Saturday, September 14 at 4 pm.

MIlson commented that the people who bought the Kappy's property, Bolen Properties, did not negotiate in good faith to extend Kappy's lease, leaving the business with no restaurant to operate from, forcing them to close.

The news of the closure was greeting with dismay and sadness by the community, who rallied around Kappy's Subs, with lines of customers coming out to enjoy a sub one last time.

Now the good news is that it appears the outpouring of community support for Kappy's has forced Bolen Properties into a u-turn, reaching an an agreement with Kappy's owners, the Milsoms, with the family announcing that they have now sevured a new lease and will reopen the busienss on Monday, September 23.
