As Florida braces for a potentially catastrophic punch from major Hurricane Milton, attractions from the West Coast to the East Coast are closing ahead of the dangerous storms arrival.

Kennedy Space Center joins ever growing list of Attractions closing due to Hurricane Milton

Hurricane Milton has the potential to be one of the most destructive hurricanes on record, with the ever growing threat that the storm could slam into the Tampa Bay area before tearing through the I-4 corridor over the heavily populated Greater Orlando area before churning over the Space Coast.


With this nightmare scenario becoming ever more likely, attractions throughout the state are closing ahead of Milton's arrival.


The latest major attraction to close is the world famous Kennedy Space Center Visitors Center on the Space Coast.


The attraction has taken the decision to close on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10 after reviewing the latest forecast of Hurricane Milton and to ensure the safety of guests and crew members.



In addition to Kennedy Space Center, today Walt Disney Word Resort, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld Orlando all announced their closure in the days ahead.


Other attractions closing include Fun Spot, Gatorland, LEGOLAND Florida and more.

Theme Parks and Attractions Closures
Hurricane Milton Theme Park Closures and Updates

With Central Florida under a Hurricane Warning and the potential impacts growing more dire by the hour, Walt Disney World has announced the following:


Walt Disney World Theme Parks

On Oct. 9, The four theme parks and Disney Springs will be closed in phases beginning at 1 p.m.


Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 1 p.m.


Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney Springs will close at 2 p.m.


It is likely the theme parks will remain closed on Thursday, Oct. 10.


Disney will consider opening Disney Springs Thursday late afternoon with limited offerings.


The closure includes the cancellation of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom on Oct. 10. Event tickets will be refunded.


Disney Resort Hotel Closures

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9. They are likely to remain closed until Sunday, Oct. 13.


Transportation

Walt Disney World Transportation will stop operating Wednesday, Oct. 9 after Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks close.


Limited Minnie Van and Mears taxi service will be available to Walt Disney World Resort Guests.


Recreation

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Disney’s Blizzard Beach remains closed for planned refurbishment.


Reservations for Dining and Other Experiences

Effective immediately, we will not enforce cancellation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences.


Pre-paid bookable experiences will be automatically refunded within 7 to 10 business days.


Disney Resort and Room-Only Cancellation Policy for Reservations Booked Directly with Disney Destinations, LLC or The Walt Disney Travel Company:

Due to potential weather impacts to guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Tuesday, 10/8 – Monday, 10/14.


Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or cancelled online, including changes to travel dates, without fees. Packages including air transportation or other services provided by third parties, or those with travel protection, cannot be modified or cancelled online. For Guests with these reservations, please call Disney Central for assistance.


Due to Hurricane Milton, Universal Orlando Resort is making the following operational changes for Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.


On Wednesday, Oct. 9, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Universal CityWalk will be open until 2 p.m. and will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 10.


(Note: Hours of operation are subject to change based on forecast alterations and some attraction and experience availability may be limited on Wednesday as we prepare for an early closure)


Universal Volcano Bay will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.


Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida is canceled for Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.


Our hotels remain operational as they focus on taking care of our guests.


We anticipate a full reopening of our destination, including Halloween Horror Nights, on Friday, Oct. 11 at our normal operating hours pending the outcome of storm impacts.


With Central Florida under a Hurricane Warning and the threat of of severe weather tearing through the area, SeaWorld Orlando has announced that SeaWorld, Aquatica, and Discovery Cove will all be closed Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10


Precautions are in place following the park’s comprehensive weather preparedness plan to ensure the safety of our animals and ambassadors during this time.


SeaWorld Orlando remains OPEN on Tuesday, October 8th. We will be CLOSED on Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th.


Aquatica Orlando remains OPEN on Tuesday, October 8th. We will be CLOSED on Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th.


All date-intended tickets for closure days have been extended through December 31, 2024 and requires no action to be taken.


Discovery Cove remains OPEN on Tuesday, October 8th. We will be CLOSED on Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th.


SeaWorld's Named Storm Policy is in effect. Please contact Guest Services team, by emailing dco‑guestrelations@discoverycove.com or calling 407-513-4600. If emailing, please include your reservation number and “Hurricane rebooking” in the subject line of the email.

Busch Gardens Tampa will be closed on Tuesday, October 8; Wednesday, October 9; and Thursday, October 10. Please check our social media for updates regarding park opening on Friday, October 11. Howl-O-Scream is cancelled for Thursday, October 10. Tickets may be used for any remaining Howl-O-Scream event nights.


Adventure Island remains running on its seasonal schedule without changes at this time. Please check our social media for updates regarding park opening on Friday, October 11.


LEGOLAND Florida will be closed on Wednesday, October 9 – Thursday, October 10. Hotel operations continue with limited capacity


Peppa Pig Theme Park will be closed on Tuesday, October 8 – Thursday, October 10. Hotel operations continue with limited capacity.



Due to the potential impacts of Hurricane Milton, The Orlando Eys is closed from Monday, Oct. 7 through Thursday, Oct. 10. Updates will be provided when the attraction will reopen.


Due to the projected impact of Hurricane Milton, the Orlando and Kissimmee parks will be closed on Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10.

With the arrival of Hurricane Milton expecting to impact our area on Wednesday, Gatorland has decided to close the park on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10, for the safety of its animals, guests and employees. 

 

Gatorland has an extensive hurricane preparedness plan that calls for properly caring for all of the animals residing at the theme park, and a team of dedicated employees will be staying at the park to continue to care for the animals before, during and after the storm.

 

The first weekend of the Gators, Ghosts and Goblins Halloween Event is still scheduled to take place Oct. 12 and 13, at this time.  Please check the Gatorland Website at www.gatorland.com for the latest updates on the park reopening and the Gators, Ghosts and Goblins event.


After reviewing the latest forecast of Hurricane Milton and to ensure the safety of our guests and crewmembers, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10. Please continue to check back for operational updates.

Due to the anticipated impact of Hurricane Milton, WonderWorks will close at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9th. Hours of operation are subject to change based on forecasts as updates come in. PLEASE NOTE: Some attractions and experiences may be limited as we prepare for the early closure. Wednesday's performance of The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show has been canceled.


WonderWorks intends to have a late opening on Thursday, October 10th, dependent on forecasts and conditions. Please monitor our website and social media for updates regarding reopenings.


Due to Hurricane Milton, Old Town will close early on October 9 at 2 p.m. and remain closed through Thursday. Planned events, such as our Wednesday Car Show and Thursday Karaoke, are canceled. Central Florida Zoo will be closed Tuesday-Thursday this week as they prepare for Hurricane Milton. Education programs and other weekly events thru Friday have been either cancelled or postponed.


Lake Eola Park facilities will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024 due to Hurricane Milton. This includes: swan boats, bathrooms, and playgrounds.


As we prepare our facility for Hurricane Milton, our Gator Park is closed and all our airboat tours are canceled for today, Monday, October 7. However, our Drive-Thru Safari Park will remain open. If you had a reservation for an experience today, our team will contact you via the information you used when you booked your experience. Please check our social media channels and website for the latest updates regarding our hours of operation. Stay safe!


Due to inclement weather, the museums will be closed for the following days/times this week. Tuesday 10/08 - Museums will close at 2pm, Wednesday 10/09 - Full day closure, Thursday 10/10 - Full day closure.


Mennello Museum will be closed beginning October 7, 2024. Please stay tuned to our social media for updates.

Due to Hurricane Milton, Orlando Museum of Art will be closed from Tuesday, Oct. 8 to Thursday, Oct. 10.


Harry P. Leu Gardens will be closed Tuesday, October 8 – Thursday, October 10, 2024 to ensure the safety of guests and staff until Hurricane Milton and resulting inclement weather have passed.


In an abundance of caution, our Zoo will be closed on Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10, as our state prepares for Hurricane Milton. Our thoughts are with all our fellow Florida residents.


Our Zoo maintains a comprehensive hurricane plan to ensure the health and wellbeing of all our animal residents and our staff. We've begun preparations as we continue to monitor Hurricane Milton. For news on the Zoo's reopening, please check our website and social media channels


Bok Tower Gardens will be closed Tuesday - Thursday this week due to Hurricane Milton.


Island H2O Water Park is closed Sunday, October 6, due to weather conditions. The water park will be closed this week, Mon, Oct. 7 - Fri, Oct. 11 as the park is only open weekends throughout October.


Due to Hurricane Milton, ZooTampa at Lowry Park will be closed Tuesday, October 7, and Wednesday, October 8.


Due to the potential impacts of Hurricane Milton, the Aquarium will be CLOSED to the public from Tuesday, October 8 through Thursday, October 10. We are planning to reopen on Friday, October 11. Stay tuned to our social media channels for the latest updates.
