Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. On June 17, 2021, it officially became a federal holiday. Juneteenth 2024 will take place on Wednesday, 19 June 2024
Juneteenth is an annual commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States after the Civil War, and has been celebrated by African Americans since the late 1800s.
Established as a federal holiday in 2021, Juneteenth, also referred to as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day. has grown in popularity in recent years, and there is numerous celebrations and commemorations honoring this important day in history here in Orlando and throughout Central Florida.

1887 Juneteenth Celebration Week

The 1887 Juneteenth Celebration Week will take place on June 14 - 19, 2024 in the Historic Town of Eatonville FL. Our theme this year is “Empowering Resilience, Celebrating Freedom, and Reclaiming our Unity”.
Events will feature a Youth STEAM explosion, senior citizen celebration, vendors, entertainment, Father’s Day specials and so much more. This weekend will provide an opportunity for members of our community to learn about the significance of Juneteenth and celebrate the achievements and contributions of African Americans throughout history.

Juneteenth Central Florida Black History Bus Tour

On Saturday June 15, 2024 join Paving Pathways as we celebrate Juneteenth and uncover the rich legacy of black history in Orlando with our Central Florida Black History Bus Tour. This immersive experience delves into the Black stories of resilience, achievement, and cultural vibrancy that have shaped Central Florida.

4th Annual Juneteenth – A Freedom Festival

The 4th Annual Juneteenth Festival celebrates Juneteenth with motivational speakers, a DJ, entertainment, a large variety of vendors, and a few food trucks. Considering the construction of Ft. Mellon Park and the surrounding area, this years event takes place at Sanford Civic Center, with its outdoor courtyard.

The PWRTRC 2024 Juneteenth Literacy Music Festival

The Phyllis Wheatley Rise to Read Campaign will be hosting a Juneteenth Music Festival from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Albert Whitted Park, 480 Bayshore Drive, in St. Petersburg. Children ages 0 to 12 are free!
The live outdoor concert will feature headliner Shawn Brown, Tampa’s very own Beat Down Band, St. Petersburg-born artist Siobhan Monique, and Grammy Nominated, 3x NAACP Image Award nominated and BILLBOARD charting artist Nathan Mitchell. In addition, there will be a special Kids Corner with several activities for children of all ages, including a playground, face painting, a hockey shooting rink hosted by our very own Tampa Bay Lightning, and more.
Juneteenth In Winter Park: Jazz & Jubilee A Night Under The Stars

We are excited to announce our Second Annual Juneteenth Celebration in Winter Park, "A Night Under the Stars: Jazz & Jubilee at Shady Park," on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 5 to 10 pm! Join us for a memorable evening featuring live jazz music, delicious food, spirits, and a night of jubilee under the stars, sponsored by The City of Winter Park and The Equity Council Corp., a Black-owned and operated nonprofit serving the citizens of Hannibal Square since 2018.
Our event will be held at Shady Park, a beautiful outdoor venue perfect for a summer celebration. Guests will enjoy a night of live music from some of the best jazz musicians in the area and performances from artists and dancers. We'll also have a selection of food vendors serving delicious bites and spirits and retail vendors showcasing some of the best cultural wear, custom jewelry, art, and much more so guests can support Black-owned Businesses on such a momentous occasion.
4th Annual Lunch and Learn: A BTGM Juneteenth Event

We're thrilled to announce that the 3rd annual Juneteenth Lunch and Learn at the Orlando Rep on June 15 from 2-6p is being presented in partnership with the Florida Theatre Association and the Florida Repertory Theatre! This family-friendly event is free and open to all, and includes a delicious BBQ lunch, engaging readings of children’s books about Juneteenth, face painting, a DJ bubble party by DJ Jaé and other exciting activities.

Facets of Freedom 2024 will take place on June 19, 2024 at the Orlando Family Stage, starting at 7pm.
This interdisciplinary arts event will be a time for us to reflect on our history, celebrate our vibrant community, and honor the sacrifices of those who came before us. As a community of artists, we believe in the power of creativity and expression to inspire change and bring people together.
We will have musical performances, dance, and spoken word that showcase the richness of African American artistry and the resilience of our community. In addition, we will have a visual art exhibit featuring Black Central Florida artists, giving you an opportunity to appreciate their unique talents and perspectives as well as purchase local Black artwork.
