Jeff’s Bagel Run acquires Winter Garden roaster Otus Coffee

Jeff’s Bagel Run is expanding yet again, announcing its acquisition of Otus Coffee, the chains longtime coffee supplier.

Fast-growing local bagel chain, Jeff’s Bagel Run is a company in a hurry!

Having opened the doors on seven Central Florida locations, with more opening soon, including Clermont on July 17, the bagel shops which are run by local couple, Jeff and Danielle Perera, has announced its acquisition of Winter Garden's Otus Coffee, its longtime coffee supplier.

This strategic move signifies a significant milestone in the company’s pursuit of delivering superior menu items while refining its supply chain to offer an even more seamless experience to its customers.

By integrating Otus Coffee into its business model, Jeff’s Bagel Run gains greater control over its supply chain, ensuring quality and consistency in every cup served.

Otus Coffee will continue to operate under its current brand within the Jeff’s Bagel Run family.

Jeff and Danielle has explained the long-time connection between Jeff's Bagel Run and Otus Coffee, which began with the couple being neighbors with the owners of Otus Coffee, Glen and Jaclyn.

"In January 2020 the Jeff's Bagel Run and Otus Coffee relationship started. Glen and Jaclyn were our neighbors, living three doors down on the same street. (But we didn’t know each other!) One day Jaclyn was on a walk and noticed JBR as a pin on google maps. She suggested that Glen reach out since bagels and coffee go great together!

He did just that. We started talking, and we traded some bagels for coffee, found out that both of our hobbies/passions were becoming legitimate businesses and we should do a collaboration.

We offered a Bagels & Brew combo, 6 bagels and a cold brew growler…it sold out instantly. 24 combos. Yep a whopping 12 dozen bagels in total but that was a lot of cold brew! All this was happening as talk of “corona virus” was heating up, and wouldn’t you know it, our committed delivery date was during lockdowns. That could stop us. We masked up and delivered on our first collab ever!

Later that year (June 2020, four years ago this month) we did our first pop-up together, selling bagels and coffee side by side to a line of people! In the fall of 2020 we started vending at the same market, selling bagels and coffee side by side.

When we signed the lease on our first shop in Ocoee, Glen and Jaclyn had just signed their own lease and were expanding roasting operations into a new warehouse with a new, bigger roaster. We worked with Glen to create Jeff’s Coffee Run blend that we serve hot and iced in all stores. Back then we were only buying a keg of cold brew and a 5 pound bag of coffee each week…but I told Glen that JBR would be his biggest coffee partner (we had a long way to go to catch up)! When the shop opened we were selling bagels and coffee, side by side.

Then we opened College Park. More bagels and coffee.

Next we opened Oviedo. Big changes here - ESPRESSO! And proudly serving Otus Coffee was featured on the menu! It was a big moment for all of us. Our third store, and the real start of our coffee program.

Then Celebration, Otown West, Winter Park. And it all came full circle with the installation of our espresso machine in Ocoee.

What started out as a simple ‘hi neighbor’, turned into a coffee partnership that has blossomed into friendship, and is now a business venture. Today’s announcement of the acquisition of Otus Coffee signifies a significant milestone in our pursuit of delivering superior quality across our entire menu!"
