InterContinental Orlando coming to I-Drive at former Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive location

InterContinental Orlando coming to I-Drive in 2028, replacing shuttered Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive.

The Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive is set to close this summer, future plans uncertain

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ fast-growing luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has announced that the InterContinental Orlando is coming to International Drive.

 

The 700-guestroom and 84-suite property is set to open in 2028, and will be located on land where the recently closed Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive currently stands, near the intersection of International Drive and West Sand Lake Road


The InterContinental Orlando will feature amenities including five restaurant and bar concepts, a 15,000 square foot spa and wellness center, a pool, fitness center and 106,000 square feet of meetings and events space.

The land where the new hotel is to be built, is owned by Orlando based Unicorp National Developments, and in addition to the newly revealed InterContinental Orlando, the space will also be home to a second luxury hotel, although details on this have yet to be announced.


The new InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Orlando will be developed in partnership with owner Flag Luxury Group and Unicorp National Developments.


The new hotel will feature 700 guestrooms, including 84 suites. Guests seeking inspired epicurean experiences will enjoy the property’s five restaurants and bars, including a full-service restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a lobby bar and lounge, a coffee shop as well as a pool bar and grill.


The hotel’s 15,000 square feet of spa and wellness amenities, inclusive of a pool and fitness center, will encourage guests to relax or energize as they wish. InterContinental Orlando also will feature approximately 106,000 square feet of well-appointed meeting and event space in addition to a business center and signature Club InterContinental lounge.
