Hurricane Ian continues to strengthen as it approaches Florida. The storm is now a major Category 3 Hurricane with winds sustained at 105 mph, Ian's rapid intensification could lead to Category 4 status by Tuesday evening.
The storm has moved slightly east with The National Hurricane Center now projecting that the storm will make landfall closer to Tampa than earlier models had it projected.
This currently puts Hurricane Ian on a collision course with Central Florida and of course its Theme Parks including Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando.
A raft of closures has already been announced, including the full closure of Busch Gardens Tampa, as well as partial closure of Walt Disney World, including its water park along with rides, and its Skyliner transportation system.
We expect more closures to be announced in the coming hours from the Orlando area theme parks and attractions, plus we are expecting an announcement from Orlando International Airport soon about a closure of its operations as the storm approaches.
