Hurricane Milton slammed Florida's west coast Wednesday as a major hurricane, bringing severe weather toCentral Florida, including the theme parks which were lashed with heavy rain, and severe winds.

Hurricane Milton has brought life-threatening impacts to the west coast of Florida, with heavy rain and severe winds to Cebtral Florida.


Ahead of the storm, theme parks and attractions all closed. Now as teh recovery begins we will bring the the latest updates affecting the tourist areas of Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld Orlando, International Drive and more.

THEME PARKS

Hurricane Miton Theme Park Updates

We’re grateful Walt Disney World Resort weathered the storm. Walt Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs will reopen on Friday, October 11 for the scheduled operating hours. Our hearts are with our fellow Floridians who were impacted by this storm.


Current operational impacts include: Theme Parks & Disney Springs

All theme parks and Disney Springs—including the parking garages—are currently closed and will reopen on Friday, October 11 at the scheduled operating hours. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is cancelled for Thursday, October 10 (event tickets will be refunded. For partially used multi-day tickets, ticket expiration dates will be adjusted to expire on October 11, 2025.


Disney Resort Hotel ClosuresDisney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa remain temporarily closed. Please continue to check back for updates on the reopening timeline.


Disney Resort Hotels – Food and DiningWe continue to operate select dining locations for Guests currently staying in our Disney Resort hotels.


Disney Resort Hotels – ActivitiesThe following activities may be available for you to enjoy at your Disney Resort hotel:

  • Free Disney movies in your Resort hotel room

  • Visit the lobby for surprise Character visits and more family fun

  • Check out the arcade for free play on Thursday, October 10

  • Visit the fitness center during normal operating hours

Operating hours and availability may be adjusted as necessary without prior notice.


Disney's Vero Beach ResortThe Spa at Disney's Vero Beach Resort is closed through Thursday, October 10.


Transportation

  • Walt Disney World Transportation is temporarily unavailable.

  • Minnie Van service is temporarily unavailable.


RecreationThe following locations are closed through Thursday, October 10. Please check back for reopening information.

  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park

  • Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf

  • Winter Summerland Miniature Golf

Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park remains closed for planned refurbishment.


Reservations for Dining and Other ExperiencesEffective immediately, we will not enforce cancellation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences.

Prepaid bookable experiences will be automatically refunded within 7 to 10 business days.


Walt Disney World Severe Weather Policy

If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area — or for your place of residence—within 7 days of your scheduled arrival date, you may reschedule or cancel your Walt Disney Travel Company Disney Resort hotel packages and most room-only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney. Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or canceled online, including changes to travel dates.


If you have products and services provided by third-party suppliers included in your vacation—such as air transportation, hotels, car rental agencies or travel insurance companies—you will continue to be responsible for any non-refundable payments, as well as cancellation or change fees assessed by those suppliers. Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations Severe Weather Policy

In the event that a hurricane or tropical storm warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center or a state of emergency is declared for the Orlando area or in your place of residence, within seven days of your arrival, you can contact Universal in advance to reschedule or cancel your Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations Package, hotel room only accommodations and Universal Orlando theme park tickets booked directly with Universal Orlando, without any cancellation or change fees imposed.


If you have purchased airline tickets as part of your Universal Parks and Resorts Vacations package, you may still be subject to cancellation and change fees assessed by those airlines


.If you have purchased Universal Orlando products and services through third-party suppliers, travel agents or tour operators please contact them directly for information regarding their cancellation or change policies and procedures.


The policy does not apply to certain special events, dining experiences or group related bookings.We want you to feel safe and will work with you directly to best accommodate your needs.

We are grateful for our dedicated team of animal care experts, including veterinarians, who remained onsite during the storm to monitor the animals, and we appreciate our ambassadors who are onsite to help ensure our park is ready to welcome you.

ATTRACTIONS

Hurricane Milton: Central Florida Theme Parks and Attractions - Closures and Updates

The Orlando Eye will be closed to the public from Monday, October 7th through Friday, October 11th.


As we re-open our Orlando and Kissimmee parks today at 3:00 PM, our hearts are with those impacted by Hurricane Milton. Your safety is our top priority, and we’re committed to providing a safe, clean, and fun space as we recover together.

We’ll be opening in a hybrid format today, with most rides and attractions ready for you to enjoy. The majority of our food stands will be open to serve up family favorites. We hope you’ll join us to make some warm memories during this time. We look forward to sharing a little light and hope with you all today. Stay safe and God Bless.


Gatorland has updated everyone following the passing of Hurricane Milton, reporting that all its animals are safe due to the park’s extensive preparedness plan and the team of dedicated employees who stayed with them before, during and after the storm.

 

Gatorland sustained no significant damage to the park and is in general clean up mode today and tomorrow.  The park will remain closed tomorrow, Oct. 11, to give employees a chance to take care of their homes and their families and will reopen on Saturday, Oct. 12 to kick off the first weekend of the Gators, Ghosts and Goblins Halloween event.


Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will remain closed on Friday, October 11 due to the impact of Hurricane Milton. At this time, we plan to reopen on Saturday, October 12 at 9 a.m. Please continue to check back to our social channels and website for operational updates. As our neighbors and crewmembers throughout the state continue to assess damage caused by Hurricane Milton, we are keeping everyone in our thoughts

 In preparation for Hurricane Milton, Dezerland Park will be closed Wednesday, October 9 - Thursday, October 10.


Our thoughts are with the west coast communities of Florida and all who have been impacted by Hurricane Milton. We are thankful for the first responders and community leaders working diligently to provide the support needed for recovery.

WonderWorks will be OPEN from 4 - 9 p.m. today, Thursday 10/10. Last ticket sold at 7:30 p.m. We are extending a limited-time $20 ticket for everyone to play it safe and stay indoors! PLEASE NOTE: Some attractions and experiences may be limited due to staffing.

Regular hours of operation will resume Friday 10/11.


We’re grateful to share that Old Town made it through the storm safely, and our thoughts are with everyone in our community recovering today.  We’ll be opening at 3 p.m. this afternoon, October 10, and be back to regular hours tomorrow. Take care, and we hope to see you soon!

The Zoo will remain closed Friday, October 11 as we assess damages from wind & water from Hurricane Milton.

Lake Eola Park facilities will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024 due to Hurricane Milton. This includes: swan boats, bathrooms, and playgrounds.


Hello, Explorers! Thank you all for the messages wishing for our team and animals' safety over the past few days. To assess the impact of Hurricane Milton and begin clean-up, Wild Florida will remain closed today, October 10, through tomorrow, October 11. If you had a reservation planned with us, our team will contact you to reschedule your adventure.


Due to inclement weather, the museums will be closed for the following days/times this week. Tuesday 10/08 - Museums will close at 2pm, Wednesday 10/09 - Full day closure, Thursday 10/10 - Full day closure.


Mennello Museum will be closed beginning October 7, 2024. Please stay tuned to our social media for updates.


Due to Hurricane Milton, the Morse will be closed Wednesday, October 9, through Friday, October 11.


Orlando Science Center will be open tomorrow, Friday, October 11!

Barring any travel advisories and restrictions from the Emergency Operations Center, Orlando Science Center will offer break camp for students in grades K-5 on Friday, October 11, and Monday, October 14, a school holiday.

Guests need to register in advance. Non-members can reserve a spot for $60, and Members can reserve a spot for $50. Walk-ups will be accepted based on availability.

Due to Hurricane Milton, Orlando Museum of Art will be closed from Tuesday, Oct. 8 to Thursday, Oct. 10.


As clean up begins from Hurricane Milton, Harry P. Leu Gardens will remain closed. We hope everyone stayed safe during the storm and can't wait to reopen to welcome you back to the Gardens and Historic Leu House Museum. Please check back soon for reopening date.

Our goal is to have Happy Frights Haunting Nights return on Friday, October 18. Anyone with tickets for this weekend should receive an email about rescheduling


We're thankful to share that our staff and animal residents are safe and well following Hurricane Milton. After a thorough assessment of the Zoo, we have decided to reopen Friday, Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. Due to the storm, some experiences may not be available. Boo at the Zoo will take place as planned on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct. 13.

Special thanks to our Zoo teams who prepped ahead of the storm, rode out the storm with our animal residents, and are working today and tomorrow to clean up the Zoo!

Our thoughts are with our fellow Florida residents as recovery continues from Hurricane Milton.


Our crew has been on-site and reported no significant damage but lots of storm debris.

Thank you to all who have inquired about our status—we were blessed beyond measure, but our hearts go out to all of Florida this afternoon. We are closed until the Gardens are clear and power returns.


Island H2O Water Park is closed Sunday, October 6, due to weather conditions. The water park will be closed this week, Mon, Oct. 7 - Fri, Oct. 11 as the park is only open weekends throughout October.


We thank you all for your thoughts and support and are grateful to our dedicated team, who like the rest of Tampa Bay, are diligently working on recovering from the impacts of Hurricane Milton.

At this time, ZooTampa will remain closed while we continue clean up and recovery efforts.

During our closure, the Creatures of the Night event will not take place. Don't Fear! Guests with tickets and reservations will be able to use them on any other event night throughout October.

Our heartfelt thoughts are with everyone affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. We are Tampa Bay strong.
