Hurricane Milton - Central Florida Theme Park & Attraction Closures and Updates

Tropical Storm Milton is expected to slam Florida's west coast sometime Wednesday as a major category 3 hurricane, Central Florida, including the theme parks are expected to be lashed with heavy rain, flooding, and severe winds.

Tropical Storm Milton is forecast to bring the risk of life-threatening impacts to the west coast of Florida, with the potential to tear through the I-4 corridor and into Orlando.


Milton is currently expected to rip into Florida as a major Category 3 hurricane close to Tampa Bay, bringing damaging winds, life-threatening storm surge and torrential rain. Here in Orlando, current models show severe weather affecting the tourist areas of Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld Orlando, International Drive and more.


Residents and visitors are being urged to plan now and prepare for the possible impacts from the storm.

Sunday, Oct. 6: Due to potential weather impacts to guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Sunday, 10/6 – Saturday, 10/12.


Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or canceled online, including changes to travel dates, without fees. Packages including air transportation or other services provided by third parties, or those with travel protection, cannot be modified or canceled online. For Guests with these reservations please call for assistance.


Sunday, Oct. 6: Walt Disney World issued its first official statement on Hurricane Milton:

"Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the projected storm as we continue to prioritize the safety of our Guests and Cast Members."


Sunday, Oct. 6: The resort blocked theme park reservations for Wednesday, Oct. 9 at all four Walt Disney World theme parks.


Saturday, Oct. 5: Walt Disney World paused hotel reservations for Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, October. 10.


Walt Disney World Severe Weather Policy

If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area — or for your place of residence—within 7 days of your scheduled arrival date, you may reschedule or cancel your Walt Disney Travel Company Disney Resort hotel packages and most room-only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney. Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or canceled online, including changes to travel dates.


If you have products and services provided by third-party suppliers included in your vacation—such as air transportation, hotels, car rental agencies or travel insurance companies—you will continue to be responsible for any non-refundable payments, as well as cancellation or change fees assessed by those suppliers. Sunday, Oct. 6: Universal Orlando Resort issued its first statement on the growing concerns over a major storm impacting the resort in the week ahead.


"At this time, our park operations and hours are continuing as normal. We are closely monitoring the weather. Please check back for updates."


Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations Severe Weather Policy

In the event that a hurricane or tropical storm warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center or a state of emergency is declared for the Orlando area or in your place of residence, within seven days of your arrival, you can contact Universal in advance to reschedule or cancel your Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations Package, hotel room only accommodations and Universal Orlando theme park tickets booked directly with Universal Orlando, without any cancellation or change fees imposed.


If you have purchased airline tickets as part of your Universal Parks and Resorts Vacations package, you may still be subject to cancellation and change fees assessed by those airlines


.If you have purchased Universal Orlando products and services through third-party suppliers, travel agents or tour operators please contact them directly for information regarding their cancellation or change policies and procedures.


The policy does not apply to certain special events, dining experiences or group related bookings.We want you to feel safe and will work with you directly to best accommodate your needs.
