So why is the resort being built in South Florida and not Orlando?
Once upon a time Great Wold Lodge planed to open its biggest ever resort in Orlando, but with the plans abandoned, the company have announced it will open its first Florida location, and it biggest in Naples, South Florida.
Great Wolf Lodge Orlando was announced in a blaze of publicity back in January 2016.
The resort was to be built adjacent to the Sheraton Vistana Resort Villas, just north of Marriott Sabal Palms and Marriott World Center.
The massive resort would have included 800 suites and a 100,000 sq foot indoor and outdoor waterpark, Great Wolf's first Florida location, so what happened?
Ground was due to break on the project in 2019, but somewhere along the way, Great Wolf Resorts cnceled the entire project, and instead sold the land in August 2018.
