Grammy Winning Latin Jazz Star Arturo Sandoval to headline this weekend's Casselberry Latin Jazz and Art Festival

Jazz trumpet sensation Arturo Sandoval returns to Casselberry on Sept. 21, 2024 to perform at the free Latin Jazz & Art Festival at Lake Concord Park.

Ten Time Grammy Winning Latin Jazz Star Arturo Sandoval will headline the 2024 Latin Jazz and Art Festival when it returns to Casselberry on Sept. 21, 2024.


The free Latin Jazz & Art Festival will once again take place at Lake Concord Park located at 95 Triplet Lake Drive in Casselberry. Sponsored by the City of Casselberry and WUCF, this concert event from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. will entice all jazz lovers to come and enjoy a spectacular evening highlighted by the award-winning trumpeter, who previously appeared here in 2017.


Sandoval's song "A Mis Abuelos" received Grammy Award nominations for Best Instrumental Composition and Best Arrangement. This composition was featured on his Grammy-winning album, Danzon. Other highlights from Sandoval's discography featuring his compositions include Dear Diz (Every Day I Think of You), Live at the Blue Note, Rumba Palace (Grammy 2007), and Hot House (Grammy 1998)



Prior to the concert, some of the area’s greatest Latin visual artists will showcase their works in the "Conexion" art exhibition. Everything from paintings and sculptures, to mixed media masterpieces will be on display in Casselberry City Hall and the Art House from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.


This exciting exhibit kicks off the Latin Jazz & Art Festival celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.

Arturo Sandoval began playing trumpet with street musicians as a 12-year-old boy in Cuba. In 1989, after touring with his friend and mentor, Dizzy Gillespie, Sandoval was invited by Gillespie to be a part of the United Nations Orchestra. During a tour with this group, Sandoval visited the American Embassy in Rome to defect from Cuba. He became an American citizen on December 7, 1998, and was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013.

His life was the subject of the film For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story, starring Andy García. Sandoval has won 10 Grammy Awards and has been nominated 19 times; he has also received six Billboard Awards and one Emmy Award.
