On March 14, The King's Singers will release their latest album on Signum Classics: Such Stuff As Dreams Are Made On. You can now pre-order the album from through the Signum website using this link.
The full album focusses on music from late 19th and early 20th century Europe, and particularly music which was influenced by the major conflicts on the continent during that period. Themes of death, myth, and national nostalgia found their way into so much vocal and choral music particularly around the world wars of 1914 to 1945.
One of the centrepiece of the album is Vaughan Williams' choral song cycle Three Shakespeare Songs (1951). For these three pieces, The King's Singers were joined by sopranos Grace Davidson and Victoria Meteyard, to create an 8-part texture. It is the middle movement which is out now as a single: The Cloud Capp'd Towers, setting a famous text from The Tempest.
