Sad news from Gatorland, as the attraction has revealed that it is to remain closed until around mid October, due to severe flooding following last weeks major storm that drowned Central Florida in over 12 inches of rain in the space of a few hours.
The South Orange Blossom Trail attraction has shared an update on their social pages on how Hurricane Ian has impacted the beloved Orlando roadside attraction.
Video shows the team, and the animals hunkering down during the storm, and then the heartbreaking aftermath with the attraction fully under many feet of water.
Thankfully all the gators, critters, birds and other animals that call Gatorland home are all accounted for, safe, and being looked after by the caring and dedicated animal care team at the attraction.
Gatorland thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers, while admitting to be anxious to get back open while admitting that it’s going to take us some time.
