This weekend, Saturday, December 10, gather the family and head on over to the Winter Wonderland Family Day Art Workshop at the Art & History Museums Maitland from 10:00 am to 1 pm. Art & History Museums, Maitland
Your family is invited to celebrate the arrival of a new season at the Art & History Museums Maitland with an extra special Winter Wonderland Art Workshop.
After the workshop, there will be snowflake face painting, a scavenger hunt, and complimentary admission to all the main campus museum attractions too.
These include the Maitland History Museum (currently exhibiting Fumechilega: The History of Florida's First Peoples), the contemporary art museum (currently showing In Between: Painting the Post Immigrant Experience), and the popular interactive technology attraction, the Telephone Museum!
Children will create wintery snowflake art mobiles in the main garden of the beautiful and historic campus, using the colors of winter, treasures from nature and handprinted monoprint snowflakes!
The monoprint snowflakes that the children will create are inspired by the Art & History Museums Maitland, Jules Andre’ Smith – a master printmaker who loved experimenting with art.
Children will learn that monoprints are the simplest form of printmaking. And just like there are never two snowflakes that are exactly alike, the same can be said with monoprints!
Each hand-printed snowflake used in the mobiles will be unique and a one-of-a-kind piece of art!
Mobiles will be ready to take home at the end of the workshop to display at your holiday celebrations.
So, take a break from shoveling sunshine, and get a little creative and wintery!
This extra special family day is free of charge and brought to you by the Art & History Museums, Maitland.
