Plant City is home to the Florida Strawberry Festival, a uniquely Florida Festival that offers everything imaginable, with dollops of yummy cream on top!
The Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City is getting ready to roll out the red carpet to welcome visitors from throughout the Sunshine State and around the world, with this years festival taking place from February 29 through March 10.
The festival includes regular favorites including agriculture exhibits, livestock, fine arts, crafts, musical performances, rides and entertainment, and of course, world-famous Strawberry Shortcake (The official dessert of Florida!).
The Florida Strawberry Festival represents a piece of Americana, a time in American history when fairs and festivals brought communities together through celebrations of their harvests.
It has continued to grow in popularity year after year through the preservation of this heritage, and is a must do event in Central Florida, welcoming more than 500,000 visitors to Plant City for wild rides, amazing performances, and of course lot's of strawberries!!
“The sky’s the limit,” said Florida Strawberry Festival President Kyle Robinson. “Our board of directors, staff, and maintenance crew have been hard at work this summer planning and preparing an ‘out of this world’ experience for all our guests. For guests of all ages, time spent on the Midway at the Florida Strawberry Festival is often a highlight of their visit, and this year the thrills await you at the Belle City Amusements Midway, featuring over 80 rides and attractions that spin, drop, whirl, and twirl, with fun for everyone!
One of the biggest attractions is the Berry Big Wheel. The Berry Big Wheel features 36 fully enclosed, colorful gondolas, each holding up to six riders and accessible seating is available. The wheel spins happy riders for a full ten minutes and costs $7 per person.
Weighing 400,000 pounds and towering 15 stories high, the wheel is strung with 528,000 eye-catching, vibrant, energy-saving LED lights. The Berry Big Wheel is located on East Independent, near Neighborhood Village, and sponsored by The Bank of Tampa.
The Florida Strawberry Festival is all about the food and festival president, Paul Davis is excited about this year's strawberry fest, “Many vendors have brought back their staple food items, we all know King Strawberry Shortcake is paramount, and the southern hospitality here can’t be beat!”
You can also look forward to strawberry shortcakes, deep fried strawberry shortcake cookie dough bites, chocolate-covered strawberry slush, golden strawberry parfait, donuts, funnel cakes, corn dogs, assorted pies, fresh lemonade, strawberry crunch waffle cones, and so much more during your visit.
The Florida Strawberry Festival offers a delicious mix of strawberries, cream, and incredible entertainment, with a huge variety of headline entertainment together with a great selection of free acts throughout the eleven days of the event.
This years festival includes headline performances from Black Eyed Peas, ZZ Top, The Beach Boys, Flo Rida, and more, all performing on the Wish Farms Soundstage.
