This event will see different muralists painting 8 x 8 walls on Magnolia Ave and Heritage Square.
Downtown Arts District and CityArts is hosting what is expected to be a colorful three-day mural festival on September 19 - 21, 2024.
The event is set to kick off on September 19 at the popular monthly 3rd Thursday event at CityArts, 39 S. Magnolia Avenue, where you can view several muralists painting 8 x 8 walls on Magnolia Ave and at Heritage Square.
This is an exciting chance for the artists to paint live in front of peers in the community!
On Friday September 20 at 4:30 pm, the second day of the event will kicks off with the muralists finishing their murals.
This event will have judges, multiple DJs, bars, and food trucks. At 6 pm, a the DJ battle commences. 3 DJ's walk in and by 8 pm only one DJ will remain. This remaining DJ will play during the muralist team challenge.
The mural teams will be randomly selected and be comprised of 2 teams of 6 muralist each.
Muralist do not have to have painted a wall in the festival to put their name in the hat to compete.
The muralists have 90 minutes to come up with a theme and complete their murals.
The audience will cast the deciding vote for the team winner, so invite all your friends and family to come out and cheer for your team.
On Saturday September 21, starting at 11 am the murals will be placed once again in Heritage square for the public to view and purchase. Muralists will be there either adding finishing touches to their murals or selling their prints and other items. This event ends at 4 pm.
There is currently a Call to Artists to participate in the mural festival with a $1,000 stipend available for chosen artists.
