Orlando Museum of Art announces exclusive event with Tony Hawk celebrating new PUSH Skateboard Photography Exhibit

The Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) has announced a first of its kind, intimate event featuring skateboarding icon Tony Hawk on Thursday, November 7 at the museum.

This special occasion will include a town hall discussion moderated by renowned photographer J. Grant Brittain and will celebrate Hawk's incredible impact on the world of skateboarding and influence on the arts.

Hawk is prominently featured in the museum's new exhibit PUSH – showcasing stunning photographs by Brittain that capture the spirit and evolution of skate culture. This exhibit not only highlights his iconic career but also pays homage to the art of skateboarding through Brittain's lens.

The evening will kick off with a private Meet and Greet that will be limited to 75 attendees. Ticket holders will have the opportunity to engage with Hawk and Brittain, including photo opportunities and autographs.

The event will also feature an engaging town hall discussion, where attendees will listen to Hawk and Brittain share insights about his journey, the intersection of art and skateboarding, and their passion for inspiring future generations. The moderated conversation will provide a unique perspective on the art behind the photos and the stories they tell. Audience members will have the chance to submit questions that may be chosen a Q&A session.

"This event is a vibrant celebration of skateboarding and the rich artistry and culture that accompany it,” said Brittani. “Tony's influence has shaped a generation and I’ve had the honor of watching him from behind the lens over the years. We are thrilled to share his remarkable story with the Orlando community.”

“We couldn’t be more delighted to host this extraordinary event thtat celebrates two icons in their respective field,” said CEO of OMA Cathryn Mattson. “We’re especially eager to highlight the intersection of sport and art within our museum, showcasing how these two worlds inspire and enrich one another.”

Tickets are limited, and purchasing early is recommended to secure a spot for this extraordinary event. For more information about the event and OMA's exhibitions and programs, please visit www.omart.org.
