Classic Walt Disney World attraction Jungle Cruise closed for lengthy refurbishment at Magic Kingdom

Guests visiting Magic Kingdom in hope of an exotic adventure on a scenic boat tour of exotic rivers across Asia, Africa and South America will be disappointed as Jungle Cruise is now closed for refurbishment.

Walt Disney World announce reopening date of classic Jungle Cruise attraction at Magic Kingdom

Jungle Cruise, the much loved opening day attraction at Magic Kingdom, originally opened on October 1, 1971, and has been taking guests on a 10 minute river cruise ever since, which means it requires regular maintenance to keep it in ship shape condition.

Back in July, Walt Disney World announced that the classic Adventureland attraction would close for refurbishment beginning August 26.

The attraction is now closed and not expected to reopen until October 18, 2024.

At this time it is unknown if any major changes will be undertaken, although no show changes are expected during the closure. However, several permits were recently filed to facilitate general maintenance work.

Jungle Cruise - Adventure Around Every Corner

When you embark on a river cruise expect dangerous beasts and dry wit abound. Board a canopied tramp steamer piloted by your trusty skipper, who will expertly navigate you through some of the world’s most treacherous waters.

Steam past lush foliage, butterflies and waterfalls on the Amazon in South America. Glimpse an abandoned camp overrun by curious gorillas on the shores of the African Congo.

Watch for angry hippos, hungry lions and “sleeping” zebras along the Nile and be on the lookout for a missing Jungle Cruise vessel and its helpless passengers. As the cruise continues down the Mekong River, you just might learn that the jungle always gets the last laugh.

It’s a 10-minute, 10,000-mile journey that you won't soon forget!
