City of Oviedo Council members and the UCF Athletics Golf Team gathered at the Twin Rivers Golf Course for a commemorative "First Putt" opening the greens after a summer renovation project.
In 2023, it was determined that the greens at the Twin Rivers Golf Course in Oviedo needed to be resodded, which would cost $640,000. Due to avid membership and events, DTE Golf Inc., which manages the golf course and programs on behalf of the city, could pay for the new greens without assistance from the city.
The sod was planted, grown, and maintained during the summer of 2024. During this time, adjustments and temporary tee-off points were put in place so golfers could continue enjoying the course, which is a prominent fixture in the city.
Instead of a ribbon cutting, City Councilmembers, Golf Course staff and UCF golfers had a ‘First Putt” to commemorate the official re-opening of the course.
The new greens are significant to the UCF men’s and women’s golf teams, which frequently practice for tournaments at Twin Rivers.
“I would like to offer a special thanks to the City of Oviedo, the City Council, and the City Administrators, who supported and funded this initiative for the Twin River green renovation project,” said Tim Allen, Executive Associate Athletics Director for UCF Athletics. “The UCF Men and Women’s Golf Programs compete in the Big 12 Conference, which is arguably the toughest NCAA D-1 golf league in America. From a practice and preparation standpoint, the green renovations are a game changer for our programs.”
The championship layout at Twin Rivers Golf Club has been recognized as one of the best and challenging golf courses in Central Florida and the Oviedo golf community.
Owned by the City of Oviedo, Twin Rivers Golf Club is a semi-private golf club. The club welcomes all public play, and offers a wide variety of golf membership programs.
