Central Florida’s Horror and Pop Culture Convention, Spookala returns to Tampa this weekend

Spookala returns to Tampa this spooky season with celebrity meet and greets, photo-ops, artists, shopping, live entertainment, and more.


Spookala is a very popular, twice-yearly horror convention featuring celebrity meet and greets, panel, photo-ops, artists, shopping, live entertainment, and more.


Taking place within the Expo Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa from October 4 - 5, Spookala will feature a huge variety of celebrities from the big screen and television.


Highlights this year, include for the first time ever, the 3 Ghostface siblings who will be together for special photo ops. Yes Spookala is bringing together Jack Quaid, Jack Champion and Liana Liberto. This will be with a Ghostface museum set!


From the smash-hit Amazon series The Boys, meet the actors who are Homelander (Antony Starr), Sister Sage (Susan Heyward), and Firecracker (Valorie Curry).


Plus, this year for the 40th Anniversary of Gremlins, actors Howie Mandel and Zachary Galligan will be in attendance for special photo op and a rare Q&A where the actors will be joined by the director of both Gremlns movies, Joe Dante!



Celebrities lined-up for October's show includes:


Jack Quaid

Jack Quaid is best known for the role of Hughie Campbell in the Amazon Prime Video superhero series The Boys (2019). Among other roles, he was part of the main cast of HBO’s Vinyl (2016) and had numerous voice acting roles such as Brad Boimler in Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020). He also played Richie Kirsch in the slasher film Scream (2022).


Jack Champion

Bringing to you the 3rd Ghostface sibling of the Landry/Kirsch family - for his first convention appearance ever, Jack Champion! The actor is known for the role of Ethan Landry in Scream 6. He is also known for his role as Spider, a human teenager living on Pandora, who first appeared in Avatar: The Way of Water.


Sean Patrick Flanery

Sean Flanery is known for playing Connor MacManus in The Boondock Saints (1999) and its sequel The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day(2009), Greg Stillson in the television series The Dead Zone, Jeremy “Powder” Reed in Powder(1995), Indiana Jones in the George Lucas television series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, as well as Bobby Dagen in Saw 3D (2010). Sean also played the role of “Gunpowder” in Primes “the Boys”.


Chris Durand

Chris Durand is best known for portraying Michael Myers in Halloween: H20. He is also known for being a stuntmen to portray Ghostface in Scream 2 as well as double for Jerry O’Connell.


Susan Heyward

Known best as Sage on Amazon’s The Boys, her other credits include Tamika Ward on the penultimate and final seasons of “Orange Is The New Black” and Detective Deena Pilgrim on Sony Playstation’s first original series “Powers” Susan Heyward is an accomplished actress on screen and stage. Other projects include her role as “Betty Porter” in “Hello Tomorrow” (Apple TV+) and as “Cece” in the HBO series “Vinyl” starring Bobby Cannavale. Susan made her Broadway debut in “A Trip to Bountiful,” starring Cicely Tyson, Vanessa Williams and Cuba Gooding, Jr. She was last seen on stage as Rose Granger-Weasley in the original Broadway cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.


Erik Knudsen

This is Erik Knudens first convention appearance! Erik Knudsen is known for portraying Daniel Matthews in Saw II, Robbie Mercer in Scream 4, Alec Sadler in Continuum, Dale Turner in the CBS series Jericho, & Crash in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World.


Karen Fukuhara

Karen Fukuhara is an actress best known for her roles as Tatsu Yamashiro / Katana in the 2016 superhero film Suicide Squad and as Kimiko Miyashiro / The Female in the Amazon original series The Boys (2019–present). Fukuhara is also known for voicing the character Kipo from Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts and Glimmer from the Netflix series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.


Danny Trejo

Danny Trejo’s film career began in 1985, when he landed a role in Runaway Train (1985). The first film in which he was given a proper credited role was as Art Sanella in Death Wish 4: The Crackdown (1987). He went on to star in a multitude of other films, many of which were small parts as inmates, gangsters, or other criminals,[2] appearing in Desperado, Heat (both in 1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Con Air (1997), The Replacement Killers (1998), Reindeer Games (2000), and Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003), among others. From 2001 to 2003, Trejo appeared in the Robert Rodriguez-directed Spy Kids franchise as Isador “Machete” Cortez. Subsequently, in 2010, Trejo reprised his role as Machete in the spin-off exploitation action film Machete as the protagonist. In 2011, Trejo reprised his role as Machete in Spy Kids: All the Time in the World. With the success of Machete (2010), Trejo once again reprised his role in a direct sequel, Machete Kills (2013).


ALAN TUDYK

Tudyk is known for television roles, such as Wash on the space Western drama series Firefly (2002–2003). The show ran for one season and developed a cult following after the series aired. He reprised the role in the 2005 continuation film Serenity expanding on the events of the final episode of the series. His other roles include the 2007 English black comedy film Death at a Funeral, the sitcom Arrested Development (2005, 2013, 2019), the science fiction series Dollhouse (2009–2010), superhero animated series Young Justice (2010–2013, 2019), and various Voices on the animated series American Dad! (2011–present). Tudyk played Dr. Noah Werner on the sitcom Suburgatory (2011–2014). He also starred in the comedy series Newsreaders (2014–2015), the animated series Star vs. the Forces of Evil (2015–2019), voiced Dangerboat in the series The Tick (2017–2019), played K-2SO in the 2016 film Rogue One, and Eric Morden / Mr. Nobody on the series Doom Patrol (2019).


Antony Starr

Antony played the dual roles of Jethro and Van West in the series Outrageous Fortune (2005–10), Lucas Hood in the Cinemax series Banshee (2013–16), and gained wider attention for playing Homelander in the Amazon Prime Video series The Boys and its spin-offs (2019–present).


Lulu Wilson

Lulu Wilson played her first leading role as the title character in the action thriller Becky, in 2020. In 2023, she reprised her role as Becky in the sequel The Wrath of Becky. She made her film debut in the 2014 horror film Deliver Us from Evil and went on to appear in horror films including Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016) and Annabelle: Creation (2017) She was also cast in the 2016 Marvel Studios film Doctor Strange, but her scene was cut for pacing purposes. In 2018, she appeared in the Netflix horror drama series The Haunting of Hill House.


Valorie Curry

Valorie’s credits include Veronica Mars (2005–06), The Following (2013–14) and The Tick (2016–19). She also starred as the titular character in the PlayStation 3 tech demo Kara (2012) and reprised the role in the video game Detroit: Become Human (2018). As of 2024, she plays the superhero Firecracker in Amazon Prime Video series The Boys.


Aaron Moten

Bringing to you the actor who is Max in the TV show FALLOUT, we bring to you Aaron Moten!

Aaron Moten began professionally acting in New York City, playing in the main cast of the Netflix television sitcom Disjointed (2017–2018). In the 2020s, Moten went on to play in the series Next (2020), Father Stu (2022), Emancipation (2022), and Fallout (2024).


Kevin Durand

Kevin Durand is best known for portraying Vasiliy Fet in The Strain, Joshua in Dark Angel, Martin Keamy in Lost, Fred J. Dukes / The Blob in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Barry Burton in Resident Evil: Retribution, Gabriel in Legion, Little John in Robin Hood, Jeeves Tremor in Smokin’ Aces, Carlos in The Butterfly Effect, and Proximus Caesar in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. He received a 2012 Best Supporting Actor Genie nomination for his portrayal of Lenny Jackson in Citizen Gangster.


Bex Taylor-Klaus

Bex Taylor-Klaus is known well for playing the role of Audrey Jensen in MTV’s Scream the TV show. They rose to fame for their starring role as Bullet on the crime drama series The Killing (2013). They gained further prominence with roles as Sin on the superhero drama series Arrow (2013–15), Lex on the comedy series House of Lies (2014),and the voice of Katie “Pidge” Holt on the Netflix animated series Voltron: Legendary Defender (2016–18). They played the character Bishop in the drama series Deputy, which aired from January to April 2020.


Zach Galligan

Joining Howie Mandel to celebrate 40 years of Gremlins, we bring you Zach Galligan!

Zach is best known for starring as Billy Peltzer in the comedy-horror films Gremlins (1984) and Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990).

For his first ever convention appearance celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Gremlins, we bring you Gizmo!
