Hear pilots and astronauts from different backgrounds share their stories of reaching the skies, and discover how they embarked on their paths during Tales from the Flight Deck.
Celebrate the remarkable journeys of astronauts and pilots during Aviation Weekend Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex, happening August 2 – 4, 2024, at the visitor complex. Hear pilots and astronauts from different backgrounds share their stories of reaching the skies and discover how they embarked on their paths during Tales from the Flight Deck.
On the bottom floor of Space Shuttle Atlantis, guests can visit the Atlantis Aviation Center to craft an airplane and see whose flies the farthest. A photo booth will also allow visitors to take their very own pilot photo!
Kennedy Space Center will also welcome retired USAF Brigadier General and F-16 combat and test pilot, Matthew "Mutt" Manifold all three days during aviation weekend.
Matthew, a distinguished Air Force veteran, has served in various roles including as an F-16 Instructor Pilot and Weapons School Instructor. He has over 4,000 flight hours, with significant experience in the F-16 and in combat operations.
On the bottom floor of Space Shuttle Atlantis, visit the "Atlantis Aviation Center" where you can craft a paper airplane and see how far it flies! Plus, take your very own pilot photo at our photo booth.
Also throughout the weekend, enjoy an end-of-summer block party. You will find yard games and DJ Steve mixing tunes outside Space Shuttle Atlantis
There will also be a block party with DJ Steve and his solar-powered DJ kiosk in front of Space Shuttle Atlantis from 12 – 4 p.m. all weekend long.
A fun activity area including mini-golf, corn hole and four in a row will also be set up nearby. All activities are included with admission.
