Abigail Disney has reacted to footage of Neo-nazi demonstrators standing at the entrance to Walt Disney World with flags, banners and signs brandishing swastikas, support for Ron DeSantis, racial profanities, and homophobic slurs.
Roy O. Disney's granddaughter Abigail Disney has reacted to Nazi demonstrators who stood outside the Disney Springs entrance to Walt Disney World on Saturday, June 10, 2023.
Disney heiress Abigail has shared footage of the demonstration, condemning the actions of the group, commenting, "My grandfather is spinning in his grave"
Roy O. Disney, Abigail's grandfather was of course Walt Disney's brother, and Disney's first CEO. After Walt's death, Roy moved to Orlando and personally overseen the construction of Walt Disney World.
Orange County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the demonstration although no arrests were made.
In a statement, Orange County Sheriff's Office said of the demonstrators, "We are aware of these groups that aim to agitate and incite people with anti-Semitic symbols and slurs," The statement continued "The Orange County Sheriff's Office deplores hate speech in any form, but people have the First Amendment right to demonstrate."'
The Sheriff's office did condemn the actions of the demonstrators, while acknowledging that they did not commit a primal act, commenting "While what these groups do is revolting and condemned in the strongest way by the Sheriff and the Sheriff's Office, they did not on Saturday, to our knowledge, commit a criminal act."
On Saturday, June 10,2023, Rep. Anna V. Eskamani who represents the 47th district in Orange County in the Florida House of Representatives, shared on Twitter various videos, photographs and details of Neo-Nazi demonstrators standing outside Walt Disney World Resort at the entrance on Hotel Plaza Blvd, near Disney Springs, brandishing messages of hate, and shouting profanities at passing members of the public.
Eskamani commentated "Nazis outside of Walt Disney World right now — absolutely disgusting."
Shannon Watts also on Twitter, shared an image showing the demonstrators, with Watts posting "Two dozen white supremacists are outside the main Disney World entrance in Orlando right now, marching with signs featuring Gov DeSantis’s face, swastikas, the n-word and homophobic slurs."
Rep. Anna V. Eskamani also shared a second video of the demonstration.
