Hurricane Ian: LIVE UPDATES

Hurricane Ian is now a major Category 4 storm due to impact Central Florida over the coming hours.


The storm has a projected path across the Central Florida tourism corridor and is expected to impact every major theme parks including Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld Orlando all of which are now closed due to the approaching storm.


The exact track of Hurricane Ian is still uncertain. however, Central Florida will see impacts including tornadoes, strong winds and heavy rain with potential flooding.


As the storm gets closer to Central Florida we are providing LIVE UPDATES on the storms impact on the local theme parks attractions and more here on this page, together with updated news and information on our Hurricane Ian News Page.

Central Florida Tourism Closures


Walt Disney World Resort


Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs will be closed September 28th and 29th.


Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will close Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29.


The Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will close Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29.


The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser immersive hotel experience will be closed through September 30th.


Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom has been cancelled for Thursday, September 29.


“Drawn to Life” presented by Cirque du Soleil & Disney has been cancelled on Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday September 29.


Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds, Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and the Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will temporarily close Wednesday, September 28 through Friday, September 30.


Guests in these accommodations will be contacted by Disney for different lodging.



Universal Orlando Resort


Universal Orlando Resort, including Universal Studios Florida, Universal's Islands Of Adventure and CityWalk, will close on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

The resort will remain closed on Thursday with an anticipated reopening on Friday, Sept. 30 as conditions permit.


Halloween Horror Nights is now canceled Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday, Sept. 29.



SeaWorld Orlando


SeaWorld Orlando will be closed Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29.


Aquatica wil be closed on Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29.


Discovery Cove will be closed on Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29.



Busch Gardens Tampa Bay


Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will be closed on Tuesday, September 27, Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29.



LEGOLAND Florida


LEGOLAND Florida will close at 5pm on Tuesday, September 27.


The Resort will then be closed Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29.


The Resort Hotels will remain open to guests with existing reservations.



Peppa Pig Theme Park


Peppa Pig Theme Park will close at 5pm on Tuesday, September 27.


The Resort will then be closed Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29.


The Resort Hotels will remain open to guests with existing reservations.

Kennedy Space Center

The visitor complex will be closed Thursday, September 29 and will re-open when it is safe to do so.


ICON Park

The Wheel at ICON Park and Carousel on The Promenade will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, 28 September 2022, until further notice.


Funs Spot America

Fun Spot Orlando and Kissimmee will be closed Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29, 2022.


Wild Florida

Wild Florida will be closed Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday September 29..


Zoo Tampa

ZooTampa will be closed Tuesday, September 27 through Thursday, September 29.


Museum Of Science & Industry, Tampa Bay

MOSI will be closed beginning Tuesday, September 27 through Thursday, September 29.


Clearwater Marine Aquarium

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium will be closed Tuesday, September 27 through Thursday, September 29.


Orlando Tree Trek

Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 28, and Thursday, Sept. 29.


WonderWorks Orlando

WonderWorks Orlando will be closed Wednesday, September 28th & Thursday, September 29th.


Central Florida Zoo

The zoo will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 28, though Friday, Sept. 30.


Crayola Experience Orlando

The Florida Mall attraction will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 28, and Thursday, Sept. 29.


Madame Tussauds Orlando

The ICON Park attraction will be closed Wednesday 9/28 and Thursday 9/29.


SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium

The ICON Park attraction will be closed Wednesday 9/28 and Thursday 9/29.


Orlando Science Center

The center will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday, Sept. 29.




Transportation


Orlando International Airport

Orlando International Airport (MCO) has announced that they will cease all commercial operations starting Wednesday, September 28th at 10:30am.


Orlando Sanford International Airport

Sanford Airport will close at 5pm on Tuesday September 27 2022.


Melbourne Orlando International Airport

MLB will close at 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 28 until further notice.


Tampa International Airport

In preparation for Hurricane Ian, TPA will suspend all operations on Tuesday, September 27, at 5:00 p.m. The Airport will be closed to all visitors at that time.


St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport

Beginning at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 27, St. Pete Clearwater International Airport will close due to Pinellas County Evacuation mandates and will remain closed until the mandatory evacuation has lifted at minimum.



Shopping


Mall at Millenia

The mall will be closed Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29.


Publix

Stores in Central Florida including Orlando, Osceola and Seminole will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, and will remain closed on Thursday, September 29.


The Florida Mall

The largest mall in Orlando is now closed until further notice.


Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets

Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets is closed until further notice.


Orlando International Drive Premium Outlets

Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets is closed until further notice.


Target

Stores in Central Florida are now closed until further notice.


Wal-Mart

All Central Florida stores are closed until further notice.
